Ok, the defintion for "hijab" is a covering, a curtain between good and evil; you the good, the rest are the evil and hijab brings the modesty that you have inside of you out.
Wearing make-up takes all that modesty away, because you will still be attracted men around you to your face.
Try to understand the definition of hijab, and see if you resemble that defintion. Make-up is just something that makes you look like you are trying to look good. i think that if you don't wear the niqaab, or face veil, you should not wear any make-up, or accesories that show, except that which comes with your natural beauty.
I knew you would be attacked by this question, unfortunatley some muslims don't have enough ettiquettes that the Prophet pbuh and his companions had, shame on them.
Look deeper into the meaning, because when you do, you'll understand it better...and that's why i wear the face veil now.

Sster thankyou for your question. It is disliked if a women wears tons of makeup and goes out of her house as most likely she will get alot of attention even if she is wearing the hijab, which then can lead to all sorts.
One can wear makeup within their own homes ( I do!!) as long as no non meharm see's her.
Please bear in mind the 'hijab' is not just a piece of cloth that covers the head, it is much more tha that: It is to cover, to be modest, intercating with people on the best manner, having a speech which is good and so forth. Insha'Allah you have a better understanding.

if she wants to wear makeup, let her wear a niqab. It is not good and religious for a muslima to wear makeup with hijab. it destroys the purpose of hijab. Even eyeliner is not good with hijab. chapstick is ok because it has no color. Leave the makeup for inside the house. salam sister.

I wear my hijab and I would never put makeup! Because if you do then wats the point of wearing the hijab! The reason u wear the hijab is to hide ur beauty but if u are wearing makeup well thhen ur breaking the whole image here!!

The wearing of makeup is permitted as long as a woman is with her husband or family..Makeup must be removed when doing wudu but can be reapplied and women can pray with it on. Women should never wear anything that would attract attention from a man who is not her husband. It is considered a form of adultery by tempting a man. Women should also not wear bright flashy colored clothing. Like Pink scarfs or some color which catches the eyes.
The meaning of hijab has been altered by western influence. Many people assume it just means to wear a scarf or a head cover and do not understand both Man and women should wear hijab..Some scholars feel women should wear hijab at all times even in the home.. This means basically that a woman should not walk around naked at any time except when absolutely needed(shower, dressing etc)...Hijab is to keep ones modesty. Of course there are certain levels of hijab such as one that you maintain in front of family and one that you would maintain while with strangers.
Kohl is a type of eyeliner used. It is used by both men and women.
The thing to remember is this..Allah(SWT) loves beauty. Prophet Mohammed(SAW) in a hadith is quoted as saying beauty comes from the heart to the eyes.. Our perception of beauty has been distorted.....
I would never watch any type of documentary on HBO for advice on Islam.. HBO itself is owned by JEWS. Plucking of facial hair in Islam is haraam.. This does not mean you can not use other methods to remove excess hair on the face.

The main reason may Muslimahs do not wear makeup or say you should not is because it is a form of adornment and attracts male attention. But it is actually Sunnah to wear Arabic Kohl eyeliner on your lower eyelids. It actually looks pretty when you do this anyway. And when you are among females, family, or your husband only it is fine. Other than that I think it depends on your personal beliefs. Explore the Hadith pertaining to adornment and see what you figure out for yourself.

Dear sister,
The intention of Hijab is to protect you and have you cover your beauty. Makeup adds to beauty and shows it, not cover it. Covering beauty is important to keep the "sick eyes" away from you. Our mothers, sisters, and daughters are flowers and Islam preseves you.

i wear hijab, and i use makeup. I believe its okay because all i do is put concealer where i need it, and a little bit of mascara and eyeliner. people dont even know im wearing makeup because its very natural looking. I was told it was halal by my mosque. in fact, it's even reccomended in islam to cover your blemishes and make your face look good, because you are representing islam.

Salam
If a women is confident with herself, everything she needs is in her heart, its no different between her or anyone else. If she decides that she is going to do things for the sake of pleasing her Lord and having mercy and grace in blessings upon her, that is also her choice and no one else can make that choice for her but her and Allah SWT.
As for the Hijabb that is different item than the make-up as its is with the tight jeans? There has to be some class, and I have seen both sides, how a women holds her head is how she feels in her heart and that is not for mankind to Judge but to encourage. Allah knows what is in the hearts of mankind Al hamdoullah, good family values with understanding, care and patience are required for her to understand what she was granted. For her to be given less than the man during her life as a human being is wrong. As for the distribution of funds that is something all together different that is usually used against them and they need to study their religion so that they can ensure to listen to their deen before any man on the face of this earth.
