To Clarify, I see gas stations, Liquor stores, clothes stores, restaurants, even big companies, that are owned by people who are immigrants. I went into a Chinese owned store yesterday, I asked him a question and he didn't speak any English!!! NONE. I asked an English speaking cousin of his who the owner and manager is and he pointed to the non English speaker! I have nothing against this, I'm just wondering. I've inquired about immigration to Europe and new Zealand and found that English is required for permanent residency. Which brings me to the question, do new immigrants get perks that the average American does not? Or do they just pull their recourses together? Anyone have information on this topic?

They get special incentives for opening their own businesses. Financial and tax breaks mostly, Usually seven years. Plus they get goverment help with loans for their businesses. They basically get all kinds of help that you or myself could not, because we've lived here are whole lives. They don't have to take the risk so it's very easy for them to get started. Alot of foreigners open up gas stations or similar businesses because they have a high sucession rate. After they have made profit and their seven year tax breaks are up, they sell the business for profit. Usually to other reatives coming into the country.

To the guy above! You know what! I don't think this question was in any way made out to be racist! He didn't exclude anyone in particular, he was asking a question about the topic as a whole. You can't be politically correct all the time when it comes to questions! Also no one mentioned they are taking over at all. I did cross reference the guys question, and he is right, other countries in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand require you to know the language of the land before you can immigrate there as a citizen, otherwise your **** outta luck. Not that I'm for either one, but it's only normal that a person would see the differences and ask a question. So think alittle bit before you play the racist card....you asshole.

Its because they are willing to take risks. Plus they are willing to work harder and for longer hours unlike the majority of Americans. They view their returns in the long run verses here looking for an immediate return. They are also willing to do with less. They'll drive around in a cheap car verses our vision of owning a Lexus. Its all attitude.
How do I know this? I have a friend, Cambodian who's in-laws own grocery stores that they are converting into grocery chains for the Asian consumers. That friend of mine is waiting for the housing market to fall further so he can buy 2 multi family houses to use as real estate property for apartments. I know 3 men from the middle east who own gas stations, working long hours and reaping the rewards of hard work. I know several Asians who own hair salons, and nail beauty shops. Who is willing to take the chance and put off for today, what they will reap tomorrow? What are we going to do to join them.

Our very own government pays them $250,000 to start a business and they don't have to pay Federal taxes on the profits for seven years. How can a domestic small business compete with that?
Then after 7 years, they bring a family member here and transfer the business to them and they get another $250,000 bucks to upgrade the business. They also don't pay Federal taxes for another seven years. This is insane. The Small Business Administration puts them ahead of the line, even to veterans.
I used to think that Koreans and Pakistanis were really good at small business, that's not the case at all, they just have a major unfair advantage.

No extra perks for immigrants. They are willing to work hard and long hours, do without extras and save until they are able to afford a business. In many foreign countres there are lots of small businessmen, so thats what they feel comfortable doing in America. Other countries have people who still patronize small individual shops rather than the big discounters. Store owners of ethnc shops often dont need to speak English because many of their patrons speak their native tongue. You dont have to speak English to get a Visa to come to America. Its helpful if once you are here that you take lessons rather than expect others to make exceptions for you. All it takes to own a business is money and a way to try to make a profit. We actually could learn a lot from these new immigrants who dont expect free handouts and are willng to work hard to get ahead.

Not without a license, which you probably can't have if you're under 18. But if you just want to [for example] make bracelets and sell them to your friends or people at school, you can do that. Just not an official business.

Anyone who is here legally can start a business. It is not our business if we didn't start it or own it. This is not stealing. It is the illegals who do it that affect us. Granted, when English is not spoken, it is disrespectful to this country. Also, they bought the businesses, then passed them down to relatives. Welcome to multiculturalism. It sucks.

Well that's because immigrants tend to be more entrepreneurial and industrious than people who are born here. It's a known fact!
