i wouldn't put food in anything you throw your garbage into. the plastic used is different and will give your turkey an unpleasing taste because the plastic taste will go into your brine and then into the bird

If you've brined a turkey before - and the results were good don't change your technique. Brining a turkey can be challenging - temp and cross contamination to other foods via juices and overflow can be dangerous. Take the time and use a container that meets the need - once you have it you'll be ready every time - turkey is delicious all year round - brined or not.

Can you not get a bucket, You need atleast 1 gallon of brine to water with the cooling agent? Head to wal mart get a 5 gallon plastic container.

I wouldn't risk it.

I use a small ice chest or Igloo drink dispenser. Both have spouts to drain off brine when you're done.

NO!!! absolutely not!!!! trash bags have antibacterial antifungal spray in them.

Go to grocery store and find one of the roaster liners or one of those super large zip lock bags.

Buy the right thing. Or use a large non-reactive stock pot.

It may have a flavor to it or some coating since it is not food grade. It may be ok, but I would try to find an alternative.
