Yes. Definitely.

Do you have a basement? That would be a great place to rough in a bath and add a great big nice tub.

The most important improvements to do to a home to put it on the market and really appeal to a customers taste, and wallet.... is to...

Update the master bath... and the kitchen.

The kitchen should be newer.... a buyer will recognize the hard work and big dollars put into kitchen improvements...

And a master bath with a full bath tub... especially when there is a whirlpool jet tub, or a soaking tub in there will really increase the dollar amount of a home.
His and her sinks, and an enclosed place to store towels and wash clothes is also necessary.

Make sure there are no wild colors in the house too. Wall paper.... always a bad idea. A neutral, yet warm color scheme, is always the best way to go.

Unfortunately, yes it does lose value. There are many reasons to have at least one bathtub in a home, for instance cleaning large items. The biggest reason is for resale to a young family who will always want a tub for bathing children.

Actually, the US national code for home construction requires a home to have at least one bathtub, unless it's revamped for handicap reasons. So, anytime a house is put on the market that doesn't comply with the "code," you can expect the value to decrease at least a bit.
However, anything can be negotiated and settled to ensure a valuable compromise.

good luck

If it already didnt have a tub, then it wouldn't lose value. If you are removing the tub for a shower, then it still wouldn't lose value, but if you try to sell it it could present problems. Most people who buy homes will have children and will need a tub. That doesn't lower the value; just lessens the people interested in buying.

Yes. It wouldn't cost you very much to place a cheap bath into a room. And if you're selling, it will look MUCH more appealing to the buyer!! You'd probably make money by just installing a tub.
