We seem to have escaped what ought to have been a hoard of excess self-proclaimed prophets of God wondering around today and I'm wondering why we don't ?

I can only "guess-timate" the correct percentage of prophets per hundred thousand populous that were on the loose in the Biblical era, but if that number was only one-tenth per hundred thousand we ought to have a predictable number of them hanging around... like one for every small city and two or three for every medium to large sized present day city.... But, where the heck are they ?

Lo,behold, for IAMTHATIAM come before thee, bursting with good advice. Don't do this, don't do that, stay away from drugs, keep your teeth clean. And so on and so forth. I'll let my followers write up the rest. By the way I just enrolled you. As a New Day Prophet you can call me Yawzardushtychrisht, but remember not to say it out loud. Very inauspicious.

By the way,I do support conversion by the sword. Actually,it's kind of cool to look at,especially when you've a couple of thousand souls down on the ground out there at the edge of town in some big wide open space. Great photo ops for the media too.

Are you kidding?
In the Bible you have about 30 prophets (in the sense that you understand the term) over a span of at least 6000 years. That's an average of 1 every 200 years. And most of them lived in a small, sparsely populated backwater.

Everybody knows these two things to be true:
1) People regard prophecy as a personal thing - this results in far fewer prophecy.

2) The decline in pirates has single-handedly caused global warming.

We have woken up to the cons
Because they have found greed and so are to busy making money etc to spread the word.
And the fact that the human race are questioning things that the prophets have to work too hard to explain things ,so gave up.

Seek and you shall find.

Peace be with you.

Most of them gave up out of frustration. Many of them tried like hell to pull off that invisible gimmick, but since making clothes disappear required additional skills ,they were all too modest to remove their duds.
After Adam scarfed up that smart fruit, they eventually all became ashamed of their little pee-pees.

I think that if the people of God really open their ears and hearts we will have more of them. There are also people that are afraid to hear from God. Think of the Israelites when they came out of Egypt, they told moses to go to the mountain and listen to God on their behalf (because they were afraid to hear from God). I really doubt that God decided to stop giving gifts to his children along time ago. The Scriptures said "your sons and daughters will prophecy and have dreams."
people-OPEN YOUR EARS!! :D
