'For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision is of any avail, but faith working through love.' Galatians 5:6

Isn't this another example of tradition gone wrong?

Pie Pie: isn't a scalpel still a knife? They don't wish your foreskin off, you know.....

Most don't. It's a US cultural thing and most don't know/care what the bible says, or aren't Christian, etc. Luckily others aren't into newborn mutilation.

Jaye you are completely wrong. Any body part is prone to infection or injury and the foreskin is not exempt from this, however nor is it more likely to get it. It was demonised and accused of causing all sorts of problems by religious zealots - who made these up because they wanted it removed to curb masturbation. In the US, people appear to have foreskin problems either because of mis-diagnosis or mis-management (like forcing it back before it's ready). Funnily enough in places like Scandinavia where they don't circumcise, they never have those problems. You say it's like the tonsils, but we don't even remove tonsils or appendices at birth, do we?

It should not be your decision and it is not your penis, so not your choice. The foreskin is not just skin and does not just protect the glans (head). Circumcision is now known to ablate the most sensitive parts of the male genitals. This surgery takes away the main male pleasure zones with about 20000 fine touch and stretch nerve endings amputated. The foreskin has several parts including the ridged band that is great for ones pleasure (that is why nutters like Kellogg wanted to chop em off, to curtail masturbation), Masturbation is important for a mans physical and mental health. The ridged band directly contacts the vagina for very great pleasure all around. The dynamics of sex and the actual mechanism of the penis are drastically changed by circumcision. The foreskin can normally be slipped all the way, or almost all the way, back to the base of the penis, and also slipped forward beyond the glans. This wide range of motion is the mechanism by which the penis and the orgasmic triggers in the foreskin, frenulum, and glans are stimulated. The only touch organ possessing as rich erogenous innervation as the foreskin is the clitoris. Circumcision deprives man of 2/3ds of the main erogenous zone constituted of the foreskin and the glans. The other risks (besides loss of sexual function, ED, PE and loss of PLEASURE) include curved or misshapen erection, painful erection, botches of all sorts (many requiring redo) and death. About 120 boys DIE each year in the US from this sick practice. I know you say you are fine, and it is good that it works (not all cut guys can say that and many lose interest in sex by 55). However, would you trust a color blind person's opinion about the merits of color sight?

Biblical circumcision was nothing like what circumcision is today. Then they would just take off our knick a small part of the tip of the foreskin. People still do it today because doctors make big money doing it and the money leads them to tell parents lies (I.e. it prevents infection, cures cancer, makes the blind see, tastes better, makes them more money. .. what a minute that last one wasn't a lie. ..)

Many parents have the idea that they own their children so it is alright to make decisions that will affect them all their lives. Even doing things to them that males would not think of doing to themselves when they are adults.

85% of the males on earth have complete penises, try to convince an adult one of them to have a part of his penis cut off. They won't do it, they are happy to be complete. So why force something on a baby that an adult male wouldn't want?

95% of Eqyptian girls are circumcised, would this be OK if it was done when they are newborn so they would not remember the pain? Of course not, so why is it OK to mutilate a baby boy just because as a baby he won't "remember" the pain?

Male genital mutilation doesn't do anything for health or hygiene that soap, water and condoms don't do better.

Hi Chong!
are you that guy? from that show, That '70 Show?
You are way cool dude.
Can I come an hang out with you some time?
seriously, sorry- I lost my head, back to the subject at hand, In my opinion, Paul was speaking in terms of a spiritual circumcision of our hearts. That, as my son eloquently put it, Paul was saying it's faith that matters, not the law. Yeah, sometimes "tradition" is wrong (in my opinion quite frequently), but sometimes we can clearly see the whole purpose behind God's laws. (I digress, side note: To me, there is a major difference in God's Laws and tradition practiced in "church".) In this case, physical circumcision is still an option because it's healthier when it is easier to keep clean.
An example of tradition and law, and spiritual circumcision is, in my opinion, I don't eat pork even though God told Peter he could eat previously forbidden foods. I don't eat pork by choice, because pigs will eat anything including dead stuff and their meat is higher in toxins which might be why God originally told His people to not eat certain things. I don't mind (judge) people who claim they are Christians who eat pork, because the Old Testament is based on an old covenant, or promise between God and man, and the New Testament is a new covenant between God and Himself regarding man. Christ fulfilled all the Old Testament Laws and all the prophesies there by fulfilling and abolishing the old law. We as humans can not win God's love or acceptance except through Christ, the old law proved it. What I do mind is my mom cooks pork for my birthday, because she loves pork and forgets I don't eat it, but I love her anyway and eat what ever she serves, even though I often get head aches from the toxins. That might be the "faith working through love". I trust my God, and know He wants me to honor Him, and show His light in this world, not fulfill my own selfish desires.
Ahh well.
Hope that helps,
Best to ya!

jewish doctors around the WWI era convinced our medical establishment to do this as a matter of course,on a presumed medical hygiene basis. In reality it's an old & moldy religious tradition of theirs. Same as abortion. Their religious laws also said it was ok before the fetus showed movement ( third month). So even Roe v. Wade is based of the hebrew law.

Have no idea why Christians do it.

Jews do it as a sing of the covenant between God and Abraham.

Muslims do it because they are copying the Jews.

Hmm... It's cultural, not religious. I am reminded that prior to WWII in Nazi Germany, if you were circumcized that was proof that you were Jewish, so you were sent to the camps. Unless of course, you could prove you were American.

I've been told that it is much more healthy, I guess its like tonsils, just prone to infections so they remove it before it can be a problem.

It would be interesting to hear from the uncircumcised here to verify this information.

Because great great grand father of all Prophets and the greatest of all Prophet did circumcised his sons. And he didn't on the command of God. Prophet never did any thing like this without God asking them to do.

It is for the cleanliness of genital area. After urinating little bit of urine remains in the walls of the skin covering peanut. Urine has bad chemicals and can harm the genital. For this God reason God commanded Prophets not only for circumsition but also to wash genitals with water for urinating.
It is for the good of humans. God himself doesn't benefit from it. Those who don't obey God harm themselves in the long run.
