Well, Christmas is coming up and i'm wanting a really great digital camera. The thing is, I don't know the first thing about going about finding a really great one. There are so many out there. I'm a glamour/swimsuit model and I really want to start taking my own amateur pictures just to mess around with the idea. Any ideas? Any really great ones? I've made mistakes of making purchases in the past on ones and they've been terrible and really didn't deliver what I wanted. They don't have to look magazine amazing.. unless there are ones out there like that. I've never handled my material before so I don't know what to look for. Price doesn't matter as I know the good ones can run pretty expensive. I just want a camera that will make me proud of my photos. Haha, it wouldn't hurt if it was pink as well, as I tend to be pretty lame and try to color-cordinate my favorite things. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

I could ask the photographers.. thing is, i'm not interested in paying $2000-4000 for the really complicated camera equipment. I don't want to get into photography as a career. I just want something great and easy to use to mess around with. If that was the case, it sounds easy enough.. and I wouldn't have posted this question.

Mm.. I have to disagree with you 4th person. With all of the technology out these days.. it wouldn't matter who it is taking the picture. There are some amazing cameras out there that can do wonders with photography. While you do need a knack to take some great pictures, I still think it has A LOT to do with the camera itself.

Besides, it seems you didn't quite catch what i'm into. I don't think some people pay attention to these questions, instead they want to show what they think they know. I don't want to go from modeling to the actual photographer. When i'm by myself and not around professionals, I just want something great to mess around with. Let's not get too technical with this question! Read it.. it's simple what i'm asking. Thanks for everyone's time.

Since you are a model, why not pick the brains of photographers you know who's work you admire?

Edited to ad...ok, since you have clarified what you are looking for, I would suggest the Fuji s9100. Low cost, great range, no messing with lens changes, built in macro, telephoto and image stabilization. It won't be grown out of quickly as it has many features found in high priced DSLRs.

OK, seeing as I am a pro photographer and I do spend a lot of money on camera equip, this is what i suggest to you.

Don't buy some cheap point and shoot digi cam, trust me, you WILL notice the difference, big-time! What you should look at is the Nikon D40x. It's an amateur DSLR that has amazing results for what you pay for it.

Nikon all the way around, they have the best camera bodies, the most precise glass in their lenses and for the D40x you will pay anywhere between 500-800 American dollars for it.

Email me and I can help you out with more, I'm a bit busy right now and can't type more than this here.

I agree to the Nikon D40x suggestion. Its a great camera on its price.

As a beginner, I would really suggest Olympus E-410. Its actually the smallest and lightest DSLR camera. You will get a better lens kit than Nikon D40x. Visit dpreview.com for details. This camera is perfect for models like you. It has a lot of presets that you dont have to be messed up with photographic technicalities . It has far more presets than of Nikon D40x. It has a dust sensor cleaner, image stabilization, live view mode. These are great features which are not available on the Nion D40x.

Buy the Olympus E-410, and you will be happy. I assure you.

First of, the camera doesn't make a great image, the person that controls the camera takes a great picture. This is one of the biggest misnomers that people have.

If you don't want to spend the time learning how to take a ghreat photo, then I suggest that you leave the picture taking to the professionals and stick with your point and shoot you have now.

If you want to get a little more serious, then I have 2 recommendsations for you: For the point and shoot category, I recommend the Canon S3 IS...for the DLSR I recommend the Nikon D40x with the18-55mm kit lens.

I enjoy using my new Nikon D40x. I'm getting great pics of stuff, and I'm sure I haven't even begun to use it to get the best possible pics from it. (I'm finally starting to get the hang of using the manual stuff, instead of just setting the camera to "portrait" or "landscape" , etc)

Although for a backup --and one that's not as hard to learn--I still like using my Kodak Easyshare camera.
