Either the Bible doesn't mean what it says or there is a deceiving double standard!

Gen 22:1 - KJV
And it came to pass after these things, that GOD DID TEMPT Abraham, and said unto him...

Abraham actually fell under God's temptation! Abraham was all set IN HIS HEART to sacrifice Isaac. In fact, the blade of his sharp knife was just about to slice his son's throat when he was stopped! He was obviously doing it without any remorse or any tears! Christians know that God accepts human burnt offerings like Jephthah's daughter, too - Judges 11

Abraham and Jephthah are among the top Heroes of the Faith in the NT - Hebrews 11

Jesus said that anyone coming up with an impure thought in his/her heart is just as bad as having it done!

God always forbid sacrificing to Moloch, but he doesn't mind getting some himself!

I know that Christians abhor human sacrifices, but God is on record tempting and freely receiving them!

Don't look, but I'm confused and you should, too!

Abraham was tempted to do something that is sinfully wrong! likw killing your own son! If god tempts you to kill your son... is it ok with you to OBEY? Please!

If any fairy man in the sky tells me to take my only son and slaughter him on the Altar before The LORD... GUESSING that the LORD will ressurrect him anyway so he can have 12 children to rule the Holy Land I must be very high on something to even listen to such nonsense from an invisible man in the sky and the point of context becomes even more perverted! It is OK to slaughter your own son or daughter like Japhthah's daughter on the altar to the LORD, but it is not OK to let a mother have an abortion when she really needs one for whatever reason. (I am not the judge!) In Christian theology the fetuses used to go to Limbo. I am not sure where they go now. Priests don't have children of their own to know what I am talking about! They don't have any idea of what family love is all about.that's how they get perverted ideas about abusing altar boys. Please don't miss the context. I used to be on your that side of the fence... I am not here to collect points, either...

God tempts no man. James 1:13-17
We need to study more line upon line and understand the character of God. Genesis also says God repented but Numbers 23:19 says God is not a man that He should repent. God repents not, tempts not, kills not and loves all.

No no no. Abraham KNEW that God would straighten everything out somehow. He had NO CLUE how, but God had already promised an unnumberable multitude from Abraham's offspring. Near the end of Genesis 17, God even tells Abraham that Isaac is the one who will be father to 12 rulers of Israel. So, this is not anything bad. Abraham was later credited for believing in God so strongly. Kind of like Abe was saying, "Okay, LORD. I'll do it and I know you somehow will fix it, not sure I wanna know, but all things come from You LORD and You only speak Truth so, since this is Isaac, and he will father 12 boys, apparently you'll bring him back to life when you are ready."

The King James translation of the bible is not very good.

The New American Bible translates Genesis 22:1 as:

Some time after these events, God put Abraham to the test. He called to him, "Abraham!" "Ready!" he replied.

Context. Context. Context.

Abraham lived hundreds of years before the Ten Commandments were given to Moses and the Jewish people.

Abraham lived in a society where human sacrifice and child sacrifice was the normal thing to do.

God was just beginning to reveal himself to mankind and Abraham did not have the Bible or much of anything else to go on.

Abraham knew that his son was a gift from God. If God demanded that Abraham kill the son, then Abraham, although it probably broke his heart, would do it.

Under the same circumstances (context) would we be able to follow God's will?

Under the much easier circumstances that we live in today, can we follow God's will as Jesus revealed it to us?

With the Ten Commandments, the Prophets, and especially Jesus Christ as part of our current circumstances (context), God would not put us to this test.

But we do have similar issues to tackle, like abortion where we kill our children who are miraculous gifts from God just like Isaac was to Abraham.

In abortion we sacrifice our children to the gods of lust, convenience, economy, and selfishness.

With love in Christ.

The Sanctification of our soul is not a right ; it's a privilege ; one that Jesus earned for us on the Cross. If we consciously insist on our evil ways and no longer seek His Forgiveness and His Mercy then what do we have to do with Him ? Why should He spare us from the normal course of event that results from mortal sin ; we might think we are in control but if God removes His Protection from us then it's just us and the demons ; and guess what they are good at: tempting us into even worse sin. This is not an injustice on the part of God ; He merely grants us what we want...

God does NOT tempt anyone.
He puts us through testings (yes, there IS a difference.) but never tempts.
According to a quick reference in the Strong's Concordance, the word used is nacah, which is a root meaning to test,to attempt, assay, prove, tempt, try.
Apparently, though that word may be used to mean tempt, it is clear that it could not have been the meaning used owing to the nature of God.
Check out James 1:13 &14.

what are u asking? Abraham did exactly what God wanted him to do and so did Isaac. Abraham was supposed to be willing to sacrifice his son and Isaac was supposed to be a willing sacrifice. they both played their parts like they where supposed to. was it a sin for God to sacrifice his son, is it a sin for our government to sacrifice soldiers to get us freedom?
