It is true right now. First, you need to be at least 17, have your parents permission, and be a senior in high school on track to graduate with your class. Second, you cannot be on any medication at the time of enlistment. You could be deployed somewhere that medication is not readily available to you. And third, with ritalin, you have to be taken off by your doctor and not take for at least 2 years before being eligible to join. After that two years, when you take the physical, the doctor at the Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) will review you complete medical record as part of your physical and determine if you are physically and mentally able to perform military service. So, talk with your doctor, see if it will harm you to not take it anymore, and go from there. Good Luck!!

Not exactly true. I have a troop is taking ritalin. But, check with your recruiter in case things have changed recently. Most things like that can be waivered.

being on ritalin is a DQ. you must be off of it, with doctor's approval AND function normally for a period of 12 months before you can even think about starting the process.
