When a believer is in a world which is not his or her home, they are often mistreated and rejected. Jesus plainly stated that we are going to be persecuted because we belong to Him but to pray for those who hate and despises us. We are kings and after the great tribulation period, Christ Will return and set up His Kingdom on this earth and we will rule and reign with Him for 1000 years. Yet for now, we are kings in the making. Did you not think that you weren't going to be schooled for the Kingdom of God? Your faith will be tried as gold in a fiery furnace and you will go through many hardships but Jesus knows how to clean out the old man to bring in the new man and surrendered is the key to any trial. But when we try to get out of the fire and not allow God to do His work, the fire gets hotter, and we are shown that God is our supreme source and only He can take us through and we learn to trust God and know that He truly loves His Children and Father knows best in every situation.. We must learn to let go of our problems and let God work them out, His Way..And then we have the peace that passes all understanding and the Joy to which this world cannot take away..And this is a witness for any unbeliever...God is a awesome God!

"Overcoming the world" is exactly what he meant, too. If one can overcome the world as Christ did, there is peace for the individual. There will always be trials and problems. He certainly knew about them.
No, I don't think Jesus ever promised an easy life. In fact, he said the opposite refering to how the world would treat his followers after his death, and that lasted for hundreds of years.

He didn't because he couldn't promise anyone anything. He was just a guy that believed. It was his brother James, (The one the bible and the church deny existed, as it would prove Jesus ain't no immaculate conception) that could promise things as he was the 1st official pope, till the bible was written and Christianity went global with the Romans.

Two gospels both go ww, for comparison:
- this gospel: beginning of sorrows... law & lie
- that gospel: an end of sorrows... grace & truth
for believers of lies to become knowers of truth.
Know the truth makes you free of believe the lies.
Suffering? Then trade J of C-->J for C of J-->C.
For only "all who will live godly in CJ shall suffer".
There is no discomfort in "the God of all comfort".
Be ye reconciled (through Jesus-->Christ) to God.
The GRACE of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

God didn't baby proof the world. We have to learn that on our own.
God just allows spiritual contentness and the renewal of the spirit so we don't perpetuate the degradation of this world.

Absolutely not. Christians have troubles and problems like everyone else has them. That’s way I always pray for the strength and wisdom to overcome them, not for them to go away. Works for me.
