Small game ONLY!.A rule of thumb is don't attempt to shoot anything LARGER than a Coyote..You will be good to go and LEGAL too.........

Depends on :
1. where you are (local and state laws)
2. What game you are hunting, and if it's in season or not.
If it's varmits or something that doesn't have a season, then you should be fine.
22 Magnums have the velocity close to a .17 varmit express, with a slightly heavier bullet. They are good for groundhogs, etc.

Negative. You cannot hunt game animals with a rim fire cartridge. Varmint hunting is allowed as well as squirrel and rabbit, but no deer or turkey. I have been tempted to use my .17 HMR because it is so accurate and lethal, but why? I own a .25-06, .30-06 and .270. If I intend to hunt game then I'll grab one of those.
