if weight issues and obesity cause so many health problems and health insurance companies so much money, why wont they cover weight loss prescriptions?

That makes no sense to me. If they covered weight loss, they'd be saving themselves millions......millions........

the FDA is a joke and the testing performed on most prescription meds is far less than accurate than is reported to the public. insurance companies know this and by not paying for these they are reducing their liability and overall costs

Because most eight loss programs actually cost more in the long run. Most people when the quit weight loss programs gain the weight right back. So whats the use.

On the other hand, if you are seriously overwieght and a doctor can prove that the patient serverly needs help, some insurance co. will pay for gym menberships until they are to a healthly weight level. But the patient must show proff that they are loosing weight in a healthy way.

OR

Some insurances will even pay for gastric by pass surgury if needed. It just depends on how serious the matter is.

Not many people know about that and i think they should. It is hard to get approved but if you work at it and it is medically necessary you can get it done.
