Preaching your beliefs or actually doing them to set an example?

I apologize for phrasing my last question wrong, but this is what I meant to ask.

Of course the Bible says to spread the word of God, but sometimes I get the feeling it is all talk and no walk.

There is power in sincerely preaching the truth. It is hard to be really sincere, if you don't do as you preach. But if you have real good spiritual ideas, they need to be shared with others. But, a lot of the preaching today, does not have new and fresh ideas. We need to get fresh inspiration from God, and be open to the best in spiritual ideas, no matter the source. The Bible is not the only source of inspiration in this world that good people use. Even individuals, not connected to any religion, can be a source of good spiritual ideas.

Setting an example is always the most effective method of influencing others. Words will only annoy but your actions can inspire. Once someone starts preaching or shoving their beliefs down others throats, the other person wil automatically tune out what is being said. Besides that, most of the people that TALK about this and that are just doing that--talking.

The word is "effective", just so you know.

I think ethical action is the most effective means to show people what you believe. From experience I know that preaching rarely changes many people's views. That's not to say that in some cases you shouldn't do a little preaching- sometimes a little is helpful if it's done in a gentle and kind manner.

PREACHING turns people off. It's more effective to show God's love through actions, causing people to wonder why you are different.

It's arrogant to shove my beliefs down the throats of others, however, I'm far from being a good example of a "good Buddhist", oh yes, far, far away from being a good example.

The Bible tells us:

James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
and

James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

What's more effective is teaching by example.
