I have a ganglion cyst that is being removed shortly and my friend is afraid that is will burst and squirt fluid everywhere (gross, I know). Is this possible??

Removed or just drained?
I have one on my wrist that I have drained every few years.
Its really thick the stuff inside so I doubt it could squirt onto your friend!! Its like honey. Same colour even!!! Yes I no longer eat honey!!!

The doctors have offered to surgically remove the sack, but from what I've read they usually come back anyway so I've opted not to have it done.

Also if you just hit it really hard with a book it can sometimes smash it. That's what I do!!

I believe in the olden days they used bibles for it!!

Very unlikely, these cysts have a tough wall of tendon-like material. Besides, the fluid inside is thick, like jelly, so it doesn't squirt.
