Um... probably not. Why do you ask?

How exactly do I starve for God?

I don't think God can love you any more or less than he does.

No, not at all.

If there is personal meaning behind the fasting for you that makes you feel better or more spiritual then it might be worth it.

But God loves you no matter what. He loves everyone, even the "bad" people.

You must refer to fasting. Fasting shows God that you understand that the spirit is more important than the flesh - that you are willing to sacrifice.

Fasting is actually beneficial to the human body. Jesus fasted for 40 days in the wilderness.

Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Dear Sara,

God's love for us is a free gift that we receive through His son Jesus Christ. We can't do anything to make God love us more, but our actions will reveal the sincerity and humbleness of our love for God.

In the Bible people fast for various reasons:

*Individuals and nations will fast to repent of sins.

*Fasting sometimes allows individuals to really seek God's will and for spiritual protection. It won't make God more likely to answer your prayer. But it is an act of humility and God draws close to the humble.

*Fasting is a discipline that the Bible reccommends. Our church fasts corporately: to pray for the church, for an event called the 30 hour famine- to raise funds and awareness of world hunger and we send those funds to third-world countries thorugh an organization called World Vision.

We also encourage individuals to fast individually .

A book that has a very good chapter on fasting is written by a man named Donald Whitney entitled: Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life.

Hope that helps. Feel free to email with any additional questions. Kindly,

Nickster

When a person fast (starve as you put it)... it humbles them. That is the way you have to go to God.

Fasting is not starving yourself, one can eat after dark. It shows dedication and also you are giving something up or sacrificing or suffering for god. something like that. I think they do it not so god likes them better but so they don't get thrown in hell for eating.

it's not totally like He wanted us to be starved with Him. He love us already but He wants us to know Him and appreciate what He does..

Fasting is good soley because you focus on God, and his promises. God has unconditional love, so that will be a No.

if you're talking about fasting, that isn't about making god love you. that is about cleansing yourself and hopefully using the few days of fasting (eating at night and before sunrise, not actually starving) to communicate and reconnect with god to strengthen your relationship.
