I'm talking about atheists in particular. Do you automatically make negative assumptions about us, such as moral character, behavior, and personality, when you find out that we are atheists? Or do you treat us like any other person?

In other words, would you be my friend in real life if I told you I was an atheist when we first met?

do you automatically judge somone based soley on their religious beliefs?

No. How ignorant and naive would that make me.
Einstein was an atheist from what i've heard but i still think the man was a genious and i admire his work.
Atheist friends and relatives i didn't know were atheist
still share alot of opinions, ideas, theories, expereinces and logic as i do.
We're not much different in some ways except our beliefs but i refuse to let my beliefs and someone elses get in the way of friendship and such. If they don't preach to me, i won't walk away! (i don't preach to no one)

I will be 100% honest with you, I would have no problem at all being your friend, but I definitely feel sorry for anyone that does not believe in God. I am not a religious person but I had asked God for some clear indication as to what I should do at one point in my life because I did not know which thing to do. Some that read this may get a good laugh but I don't care but within 3 hours God had made the decision for me. And I am not ashamed to say because of the answer he gave me I now still have a 22 year old son, which may have otherwise never been born. I cherish every moment with him and now he has given me twin grandsons. Now tell me there is not a God!!!

No. I'm a Christian and I don't judge people because of different religious beliefs. I have an Athiest friend that I see every day. Maybe because I used to be an Athiest. But are you making a judgement about Christians by asking that question? Jesus was a friend to all, he even prayed for the people that were crucifying him. Just because you don't believe in God doesn't mean that I can't be your friend. The only thing it means is that I should tell you that I think it's harder for me to believe in no God than believing in God. I don't have enough faith to believe that everything came from nothing. Plus all of the evidence that Jesus lived and was the Son of God, and died so you can live, kinda makes me believe this stuff. I just hope that you're really searching for the truth as I did, and aren't just choosing to not believe in God. If you think about it, isn't that the most important question in life?

My own experience is that a significant portion of the population will automatically judge you based soley on that, and polls such as 'would you vote for a candidate who was an atheist' affirm my own experience. So, I just don't tell people, or when cornered, I lie about it.

never.

Religious beliefs often are just a "profession", as a matter of fact at times I would rather be in a foxhole with someone who was an atheist than some who profess to be Christians.

The person who comes to my help when I am down, like the good Samaritan is my friend.

Also have several neighbors who are atheists as well and we get along just fine, never had a problem either way.

Do you automatically judge me because I am a Christian?
I had an atheist classmate, she was all nice before, when she learned I was a Christian, she laughed at my face. I didn't mind it though. As long as we don't talk about our personal beliefs, we're cool.

I'd treat you like my gay friends and my 3 atheist friends.
=)

no, part of being christian is accepting other beliefs and not preaching that christianity is the only way and acceptance. A true christian would not judge any aspects of another religion if they are true to their religion. However can i speak for everybody? NO. There are alot of people out there who do judge which is unfortunate because that is what is so great about society is our freedom of many things including religion. :) Your question is open to all christians, but it should be intended for all individuals since christianity is only one path of people who may judge. Implying this question towards christians is a form of stereo typing and contradictment urself.

No. But I do know quite thoroughly the Word of God. Either you believe/practice what it teaches or you don't. The Bible states if we haven't lived our life according to the Word. We have lived our life in vain. I would never base a friendship on whether a person was a Christian, atheist, etc. That would go against the teachings of the Bible itself!

Never. In my book one of the most important things to have when dealing with others is their character; and how I maintain my own. I have seen atheists as well as theists of low character. I have seen high character within those two extremes as well. Hope this answers your question. Gods peace:)

Yes, I would be your friend. One of my best friends is an atheist. Sure, I would treat you like any other person.

May I ask you this? Would you be my friend, even though I am a Christian? Would you automatically assume I'm uneducated? Whould you automatically make fun of me?
