huh? I always put my hand over my mouth. IF I can't for some reason I either look away from others or keep my lips closed tight. I was raised in texas and live there now. I"ve always done this, and I've rarely seen people just yawn openly like that.

I put hand over mouth unless both hands are full. Then I try to yawn into a sleeve or my arm. It is considered "bad form" to just open your mouth wide in public, especially when no sound is coming out.

Yes, when you yawn you need to put your hand over your mouth. It's good that you do it.

I don't care if people do or not. I don't think yawning is rude...

I personally do, but only to hide my chin which looks extremely odd when I yawn!

Mike--I'm sure you'd prefer my "no sound" yawns. Mine can sound like a mixture between a yawn and the sound a cat makes when it has a hair ball!

I am from Texas, and I always cover my mouth when I yawn. It's mostly because my teeth look funny sticking out from my upper lip. Hahahaha.

I always do too. It's a proper way I think and most people think it's rude if you don't cover your mouth when you yawn.

Yes, unless my hands are full. Then I say 'excuse me', if I happened to be in a conversation when I yawned.

Yeah, i always put my hand over my mouth.
I live in Texas to and also notice alot of people here don't do that - goes to show just how laid back this state is.
I love it.

You should put your hand over your mouth and say excuse me afterwards.

Yes. But, I don't think the younger people are being taught the same manners we were.
