You walk into your home.
No one else is there.
You drape your jacket over a coat rack,
and walk toward the kitchen.
As you step through the doorway to the kitchen,
a hand goes over your mouth.

You walked into your home while it was being robbed.
The intrudor clearly intends to kill you.
But, before he pulls out a gun, you have a moment to pray to God.

Do you pray for your life to be spared, or for the salvation of the soul of your assailant?

Actually, I'm not back.
These are the questions I have written down from last night, but I'd run out of questions, and couldn't ask them--after starting a new account, I can only ask 5 a day.

Lol--some questions, I want to ask, but forget about. So, I write them down.

However, this one, and one of the others I asked, are for a class, so yes, I of course had to write them down.

I've already been saved. If God wants to take me home, and chooses this crazy guy to do it for him, so be it.

At the moment, I guess I would be really angry with this person. I mean, if he thinks he has the right to decide when I live and when I die, he's playing God. I would also be scared. I hope that if this ever happens, I would be able to look past the here and now and pray for him salvation, even though forgiveness will be hard.

Prayer for EITHER would be the LAST thing on MY mind. I would be eagerly looking for a knife, fork, spoon, toothpick, ANYTHING to jabv into his eyes or cause him injury enough to shift his concentration from YOU to HIS safety. And THEN take FULL advantage of that shift to either escape or do further damage to him, depending on the circumstances surrounding the incident. The LAST thing a typical burglar wants is a violent confrontation. he just wants the stuff he came for and to get away. Use that knowledge to work FOR you rather than panicking and letting him kill you.

Like what hypothetical state of affairs? I advise, if we are talking some hypothetical state of affairs like, "What if the Axis Powers in no way initiated conflict? could united statesa. have accompanied lots of the socialist and/or fascist innovations that have been thrilling in Europe on the time? if so, how could that have formed what may be the famous political climate?" that's some thing that any theist (who has some activity in political historic past, for this actual occasion) could have the skill to contemplate and answer. in the adventure that your question creates a mythology touching directly to the ideals of a theist- enable's say a Christian, like myself- and then asked a hypothetical, "What if God is surely the evil all and assorted those lamb sacrifices for "sin" have been surely blah blah blah..." or "How could Christians react in the event that they found out that the disciples had intercourse with sheep," it' only going to come back off as an insult. additionally, non secular issues are not quite up for that kind of hypothetical debate; they are tremendously decrease in dry by way of fact, no remember in case you have faith it or no longer, they are consistent with a set of "info" or despite. they are consistent with set-in-stone innovations that may not be able to be toyed with till the purpose is to break down the concept. so as that's in all probability why you get those kinds of responses. it incredibly is no longer by way of fact atheists are extra helpful at it.

I am not going to live forever. I do not see the return to the loving embrace of the creator as something to be afraid of.

Having said that.

Sadly I would probable do neither. I am very good at defending myself. For years I was paid to eject people from a night club who were causing problems. Practice makes perfect and hard earned lessons are difficult to forget. My main concern would be that he was not hurt too badly.

Love and blessings Don

I'd not pray. If it was very clear that he meant to kill me, then my elbow would be going for some vital organs.

Otherwise, explain that there is no jewelry, money, or prescription drugs in the house and go from there.

I take that moment you wasted praying to your imaginary friend, and get myself out of that situation fast.

There are plenty of ways, especially if he doesn't have his gun out yet. You could bite his hand, step on his foot, throw him over your shoulder, etc. Just make sure you live to see the next day, even if the toolbag who robbed your house doesn't.

You'd have to be the holy Bodhisattva Kuan-yin to pray for the soul of your attacker in that moment. I think you'd be more in fight-or-flight mode.

I can't pray for my life to be spared, but I can fight back. If I were instantly killed, I'm pretty sure God would remember my previous prayers.
