The US Constitution gives us all freedom of religion...so why are we now being denied this right. A very few people find it offensive to see GOD anywhere...well many people left the other hemisphere due to religious persecution...so what now we too will be persecuted for displaying GOD in our lives...So let us who do want GOD displayed let it be so: put the sign of GOD for you on your car, front door, windows, or wherever...our forefathers faught for it and our service men are fighting for our freedoms as we sit at home in peace...so wave GOD to your hearts content...do you agree?

It can turn into a negative can of worms.

Such as those that want religion in our public schools.

If that is granted, then it allows all religions equal representation. Such as Muslims, Buddhist, Druids, Devil Worshipers, etc. Where does it stop?

In England, they have instituted the "Ban". The country apparently has turned into being Ban happy. What I found troubling, is Sir Elton John came out publicly to ban something (can't remember, but it had to do with personal rights of expression that harmed no one, except he found it offensive), yet he is homosexual, and one of these days he could find himself on the short end of being banned.

Society has a nasty habit of morphing into things we couldn't imagine a decade before and those laws that allowed God in our government and public buildings could very well morph along with it to the point were it censors, to worse, throwing people in ovens.

For the individual, knock yourself out.

Peace

Jim

The notion that prayer isn't allowed in public school is a misconception fostered by the religious right. Students as well as teachers are free to pray in school. What they aren't free to do is impose the observance of a particular faith on others. So, Muslim teachers cannot require their Christian students to participate in a Muslim prayer, and vice versa. Leading a prayer isn't allowed, because people could feel pressured to participate in a faith that they disagree with, but praying itself is fine. It's the same with the moment of silence. Anyone can keep silent for a minute or two in school to observe their faith. The difference is that, if the religious right has its way, schools could require rather than allow a moment of silence. I think it's a way of getting mandatory prayer into the public schools under the guise of silence. It's like teaching creationism but calling it "intelligent design." It's sad to think that professing Christians would be dishonest and hide their true intentions, but it seems to be happening. In fact, a court recently found that intelligent design was creationism in disguise. Well, like the Bible says, "By their fruits ye shall know them." For these people, one of their biggest fruits is hypocrisy.

God is not banned in public. That's silly. Religious persecution? Isn't this country a Christian majority? Does a small minority of the population really have that much power?

No, it doesn't. I guess the constitution is the prevailing factor. Since the word God is not mentioned in it even once.

Who is denying your right to display your religion? I see plenty of religious symbols on cars, houses, persons, etc. you are only restricted from endorsing any particular religion in a public place, used for public purposes.

This means you can't put the Ten comandments in a court, or a cross at an airport. Just like I can't put a slogan "there is no God" on the side of a jail.

You are not being denied any rights. You are free to publicly proclaim your religion at the top of your lungs if you so desire. I believe in freedom of speech. What there is no entitlement for is for the state to display a nativity for example which is the government giving preferential treatment to one religion in a country based on separation of church and state. The issue is not about your rights, but the right of the state to include anything other than a generic deity in public.
We are a nation of Jews, Christians, Moslems, Hindu's, atheists, buddists to name a few. For the state to give preferential treatment to one religion is slapping everyone else in the face--and is simply unconstituional.

I have yet to hear about anybody who's been denied the right to put a fish, cross, Star of David, Crescent, or any other religious symbol on their personal property. Those symbols have NO business in government/publicly owned buildings. If you can cite an instance of the right to display religious symbols on PRIVATE property, and tell me how "we" are being denied this right, then I'll listen.

Our country does give freedom of religion...for YOU. It does not, however, mean that the government should endorse one religion (or any) over another. Church and state are supposed to be sepparate, remember. So how do you justify a government or government run agency blatantly abusing this separation???

You should of course be able to display anything that's "Godly" on your own person or property but can you imagine what it would be like if every person of every religion wanted to display their religious beliefs in public? Not everyone believes the same thing so it would be arrogant to have God displayed everywhere without also including Allah, Buddah, and so forth.

In what way have you been denied such rights? You obvioulsy haven't been denied anything, but instead, are merely offended that you are no longer being allowed to trample on the rights of others to the same extent as was once done.

You have the right to practice your religion, you can display god on your home, your car, your person, on a blimp if you want. Nothing is stopping you. Have fun. Knock yourself out.

No, seriously. Knock yourself out.
