2 Nephi 5:21 says,

"And he had caused the cursing to come upon them, yea, even a sore cursing, because of their iniquity. For behold, they had hardened their hearts against him, and they had become like unto a flint; wherefore, as they were white, and exceedingly fair and delightsome, that they might not be enticing unto my people the Lord God did cause a skin of blackness to come upon them."

From what I understand, they used to teach blacks had dark skin as a sign of disapproval from God, but they no longer teach this. From what I understand, blacks could not be "priests" in the Mormon Church until 1978.

As I said, this is no longer seems to be the policy and belief, but I don't know what they do with this verse from their so-called "scripture".

Yes why shouldn't I.

Are you trying to say god didn't do such things.

I point you to the old testement. God sent she bears to kill children because they had mocked his prophet.
He swallowed up the priests of Baal because his prophet asked.
He destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gamora because they were wicked.

Why then can he not mark a people so his chosen can recognize them?
He did so with Cain. Gen 4:15 "And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him."

I guess my point is that if you believe in the bible how can you not believe that God is capable of doing anything to protect those he has chosen.

mormons believe this to:
Mormon bad scripts: 2 Ne. 2: 22
22 And now, behold, if Adam had not transgressed he would not have fallen, but he would have remained in the garden of Eden. And all things which were created must have remained in the same state in which they were after they were created; and they must have remained forever, and had no end.
Moses 5: 10
10 And in that day Adam blessed God and was filled, and began to prophesy concerning all the families of the earth, saying: Blessed be the name of God, for because of my transgression my eyes are opened, and in this life I shall have joy, and again in the flesh I shall see God.
They are happy that the snake tempted them.
