Look, most Republicans are NOT religous fanatics nor do they support illegal wire tapping. Many are embarassed at this point they ever voted for Bush, what with his approval ratings approaching Nixonian levels.

Rather than really admit just how corrupt and incompitent we really know the current administration is at eroding our freedoms for partisan gain (via Karl Rove) is it human nature to ignore it and deny it wholesale?

-And is this what is fueling the "right/left foodfight"
-And why 3 out of 4 people want a president "very different" from George W. Bush?
-All at the same time?

Reckon so.

Most of them believe that giving up our civil rights is worth being able to get the "terrorists"-- despite the fact that there haven't been any over here since 9/11. Strangely, they're also the ones who shout and bray the loudest about how wonderful freedom is.

Americans are not happy with the way the country has been heading to the left over the years. Bush isn't a true conservative, which explains why he doesn't get good approval ratings. Despite that, his approval ratings are 4 times better than that of the Democrats. Isn't that amazing?

We know that if the Democrats get into office again we will have absolutely no freedoms left. Hillary, for example, plans to tax us to abject poverty and take control of every aspect of our lives. She's even admitted she wants full fledged amnesty. Actually, all of the current Democrats want to do all that since it's the quickest way to destroy the US from within.

As for wire-tapping, Clinton set up the Echelon system on our own citizens years before 9/11. I don't mind tapping the phones of known terrorists calling overseas, but tapping our emails and phones is something only a Clinton would do.

You seem to be rather uninformed. Karl Rove didn't break any laws, yet you mention him as though he did. We know Sandy Berger committed crimes when he stole top secret documents and shredded them to hide Clinton's incompetence. All he got was disbarred. Quite a double standard when you think about it.

To your bulleted points:

- There's always been conflict between traditional Americans and the left-wing socialists. It will always be a struggle until we get them out of our colleges, our media and our public offices. Letting them control these institutions was a mistake that will take years to correct.

- Most conservatives want a true conservative in office. I think the liberals want a true Marxist like Hillary put into power. I will never know why except that they seem to hate this country with a true passion.

- I guess everyone wants changes made all at the same time, but it will take time to correct the problems caused by the liberals in power.

We're still paying for the messes Carter caused with the middle east, and Clinton not only let Bin Laden go, but he put us into a recession that's taken several years to pull out of. Thank goodness for the tax cuts for all us hard-working Americans. Otherwise we'd probably still be in the Clinton recession, worsened by the 9/11 attacks.

Yes to all your questions.
What I find the most scary and frustrating is that many of the very people being hurt by what has gone on during this Bush administration either don't or refuse to see it.
We really need a drastic change from the top down and I fear it won't happen.
I have been a Democrat or an Independant for 40 years now. In my younger days I was one to protest, speak up and fight for what I believed.
am I just getting 'old' or do I really see the fruitless-ness of it all? I'm not sure.

but, what I see happening and how un concerned too many are scares me.

To Michele Gacy Bachmann. you may desire to be a form of liberals with an IQ under 40. let us know all how the stimulus created or saved tens of millions of jobs and prevented the US from entering into the subsequent large melancholy? you haven't any longer have been given any answer, as a results of fact the stimulus did no longer something yet pay off the thugs that Hussein Obama replaced into indebted to.

Wow! You can write without using expletives! How about that!

No one is minimizing anything. Dems blow things way out of proportion because they're still upset that their last two presidential candidate LOST the election. Those who don't live in a "happy bubble" know that he hasn't cause any damage at all, unlike the last two Dems that were in the Oval Office. Let's remember that no matter how low our President's approval ratings are, this Democrat congress that you elected last time has even lower ratings. Fathom that.

People who do not like the US like the fact Bush is the president as he inflicts the maximum self damage on several fields.

People who like the US wish just the best to the US. The president is not always on this wishlist

We always want something better then we already have. If you would've skipped through history from dictatorship times, to now, you would love it.

The fact that you can say things like you have just said without getting murdered shows that america isn't doing that bad.

Doesn't mean there can't be improvement though. Just live through life, prices will rise, it will all inevitably inflate, don't act surprised, just live through it the best you can.

They are under the delusion that it benefits them, but the reality is their civil liberties are disappearing, their fears are overflowing, they can only afford to buy the cheapest slave labor goods from China, and they tolerate this, their children will be next ;)

It is still so hard to believe that any US president would do such things to us. It shatters any faith we have left in our government.

We were taught throughout our lives that this is the sort of thing that only happens in OTHER countries.
