I've seen several people state that they don't follow any religion, they just go by God's word. Where do they get God's word if not from their religion? Is God speaking personally with all of these people or did they read what they believe to be his word in the holy book of their religion?

You are all saying that God's word comes from the holy book of your religion. In order to believe that your holy book is God's word, you have to subscribe, at least in part, to the religion that claims it to be true.

Many of the New-Age Christians believe in an "ignorance is bliss" kind of Christianity that discourages introspection almost as much as the ancient Catholic Dark Ages.

They believe in a "good" and "just" and (heaven help them) "fair" god who had nothing to do with all the violence and war of the OT.

If you point out any of the ignorance or hate from the history of Christianity, they either tell you that that was not "their" god, or they just plug their ears and say "stop it man, your bringing down my high."

The "New Testament" is the balloon that keeps them aloft and they do not want to look at it too closely. Learning about early Christian politics, Biblical revisions, mis-translations, historical context, and knowing changes to the Bible are a real "bummer man".

The bible DOES NOT have a real name for 'God' and 'God' is made up. This word is pagan in origen and means plural deities, that refer to the old idea of fertility, crops and so on. In the bible, there was Jehovah, and in the NT, it was 'Theo' but the Greeks didn't actually have a word, and so you are right, that a Creator so big cannot be named in one name. Did you know that Jesus has over 100 names in the bible?

The prophets and high priests, who allegedly wrote the Old Testament. Peace be upon them (might be a little late for that, since they're all dead).
