Depends on the writer of the books. Most of the stuff was written years after his death, and there were several different factions in the early church.

Oddly enough it was divided mostly between James (JC's brother) and the apostles, and Paul, who was a self-declared apostle. Depending on which camp was talking, would change what was being said, with most of modern Xianity coming from Paul, and very little from the apostles themselves.

If you read it all and use your comprehension skills, you will see that you must believe in the Savior and follow His teachings. What's to get straight?

It is the getting in him that others do not want to do although that is what he spends alot of time telling us how to do. So we must be "in him" to believe "in him"
