Religion is nothing more than old school politics. Countries create laws to control how people act, religions create creeds to control how people think. In religion, you dont kill because you will go to Hell(or equivalent ), by law, you dont kill because you will go to jail. Either way, you dont do something because you fear the consequences. I do, but who else believes religion is only here to control how a certain group of idealists think, and to give simple answers to complicated questions?

I disagree. I think the communists who were atheists did a much better job at controlling people's thoughts and actions. To the point of imprisoning or executing anyone who would dare disagree with their views.

You might know a bad aspect of some religions. Does this mean that all believer think like this? Do you know all religions? Do you seriously bleieve that "religion is only here to ..."?

You should try experiencing religion (in general). I am an atheist, but I did experience some of it myself, and that gave me insight into how things work.

Somewhat.

Control is correct tho. It's always about power and control.

Any organization becomes a power structure, which then becomes a control system. It's main goal then is, protect itself, and increase it's power and control.

I mean, the only reason the Church created monasteries, was to take the mystics and other dangerous types, and lock them away out of sight of the general public, so they could insure that no "visions" happened outside of their control, and could turn into heresy.

That was an added aspect of religion. I believe that originally it was used to explain the things people didn't understand like the sun rising, lightning bolts, stars in the sky etc etc.

Some religions, yes. And I find it sad that so many humans seem to need that "dire" consequence in order to behave themselves.

In religion, not being fundamentalist, you're not supposed to kill, but that's because of love and not because of fear.

This part I agree with: True religion does give simple answers to complicated questions.

But friend, true Christianity ain't about "religion" as you describe it. It is about a relationship with the living God.

god bless

I agree. Religion is a bunch of man made crap. God is all about relationships which continue because of forgiveness.

No, I think that there is something emotional that they get out of it as well.

Exactly what that is is beyond me at this time. Meh.

I agree. I don't follow a religion, I just stick with God's Word.
