Our lack of belief puts us against all faithful. People mock and make fun of the things that are different from them and their belief systems.

I'd likely be fired if I said something like that about a religious coworker.
Of course, my workplace is fairly progressive, so I doubt an email like that would circulate in the first place. You could probably bring this up with your supervisor, and if the supervisor gives you grief for it, you could *easily* threaten to call the ACLU. These things rarely get that far, though, since most atheists are equipped with senses of humor.
The part that bugs me is less the joke and more the email subject line, which doesn't even have anything to do with the joke. Someone should get in trouble for that.

Because most religions see Athesits as being wrong or simply below them. So it's fine in their eyes that Atheists get bashed because they're going to Hell anyway, but then they take their own religion seriously and get insulted when there is a joke made about them.
It's sad that people are so sensative about their religions...people need to take themselves less seriously. I don't freak when there's a witch on a broomstick decoraton for Halloween, so why should they get mad about something so simple as a joke?

I've heard that joke before. It wasn't very good. I much prefer the one about Saint Peter asking God where he's gonna go for his vacation, and God says, "Certainly not Earth again. I went there like 2,000 years ago, got some girl pregnant, and they haven't stopped talking about it."
To actually contribute, it's simply because atheists have the good sense not to blow the persecution whistle over a joke, whereas one nut in the crowd will declare his or her religion is being mocked...even if the majority of that person's religion found the joke funny.

Yes it is much like all of the anti-Jewish propaganda Christians used to publish in 1930's Germany. Imagine if the same joke was made about Jews today. Yet in Nazi Germany Jokes about Jews were common and handed out in Christian churches. The problem is of course not the joke itself but the acceptance of hatred that it leads to.

I heard the same joke about a missionary and a lion.
Makes much more sense. I can't imagine an atheist asking to christianize anybody. It just means it's a stupid joke...

Simple: Majority Rule. We are in the minority. If one of us tried to send an email like that, we'd be hit with harassment and fired.
Although, I have a small file on my hard drive of anti-religious stuff that I pick and choose from whenever someone in my address book sends me one of those disgusting religious chain-mails. I send a choice bullet back at them, get a hurt reply, and get to explain to the sender that I don't wish to have my email box being used to either insult my own beliefs or to hear about theirs. That's usualy the end of it!

What do you expect?Christians fully endorse bears killing and mauling people.Maybe these bears were good little Christians :2:23 And he went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
2:24 And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.
2:25 And he went from thence to mount Carmel, and from thence he returned to Samaria.
Maybe you should send an e-mail asking if those are the good little christian bears mauling kids for calling someone bald.

You should have sent an e-mail back saying that suggesting that Christians eat atheists isn't exactly conducive to the idea that Christianity ISN'T a mental disorder.

Did it offend you?
If so, report it. Follow it up to ensure that the originator received a reprimand for inappropriate E-mail.
If it is not followed up then contact the ACLU because you have a discrimination case on your hands.
The E-mail itself is not discrimination, it is just inappropriate. But the company management failing to act on an inappropriate E-mail is discrimination.

I am sorry to say this, but open up your eyes. You think you atheist get beaten up. Look around on this site. Everyone, Muslims, Mormons, Christians, Evolutionists, Atheist, etc, are all being beaten up. You should see some comments some Atheist have written on my questions. Sorry, but look around you and open your eyes to the real truth. You think we christians have it easy!!?? I know about 5 men in Colombia, who are in New Tribes Missions, were killed during their survice to the Lord. Christians in China are being pursecuted. People, where I live (Senegal) are being pursecuted for believing in Jesus. And when I mean pursecuted I mean physically beaten, killed, set out of homes, rejected by their own family, etc. this life isn't easy for anybody. I hope you will see that.
