...are not Christian and in no way are they trying to force their beliefs on others? Can you be respectful to them regardless of the differences? Would you expect or at least hope that these believers would be respectful to you?

I am one for consistency, as I believe it the hallmark of fairness; so when it comes to religion, even if they Christian and believe all sorts of strange things I won't mind per se.

What I will mind is the expression of attitudes, no matter where they come from.

Other than that, preaching at me draws my ire, but any religion that is content to not do so is fine by me.

I am certain that respect is called for towards all people. I am not disrespctful of Christians, though I often am actively vocal against their beliefs. I feel the highest act of love and respect that I can show them is to not pander to their superstitions.

As much as I love and respect other human beings as a result of my own non-scriptural morality, I certainly do not think much of someone's intelligence or rationality who choses to believe in something for which there is no real evidence, instead of learning and thinking for themselves.

i'm an atheist which as Corey stated potential I lack a perception in all gods, yet enable's say ALL Christian splinter communities are "authentic Christians". Baptists, Protestants, Jehovas, Mormons, Catholics and the untold variety i'm forgetting approximately. That least some sixty six% of humanity who does not have self assurance in the Christian god. Atheists are merely a small proportion of this.

I believe that you are free to believe whatever you like. It isn't necessary for me to convince you to believe what I believe in order for me to believe what I believe is true or right or good. Freedom of individual beliefs is the cornerstone of all good things. Every other argument is about personal greed or benefit. Here's a great question that an agnostic friend of mine asked regarding the building of a church in the city in which they lived.
He said, "Why does God need a million dollar chapel?" and my other friend, who is Episcopalian said, "So he can find the real Christians." You may think about that all you want, but it still boils down to the same thing.

There are people like that, and I do respect them. They don't even need to be something other than Christan. There are also many Christians out there that I respect.

hey, i respect anyone, beliefs or no beliefs. if they believe in the great spagetti god or aphrodite, it makes no difference to me. i expect everyone to respect me, but usually those with religion can't respect those without (like me).

The idea that "one size fits all, so I must make everyone wear the same size as me" is what I oppose. I don't oppose those who have radically different ideas (e.g. the Amish), but rather those who wish to impose them on the whole of society (i.e. Fundamentalists).

If people wish to believe in ancient myths (there used to be thousands of gods) then that's ok by me. As long as they don't force their ignorance of science and reality on me.

I respect beliefs that are based on evidence. I would leave these people alone as long as they don't vote about their imaginary cosmology, but I would want to educate them if I could.
