I have two degrees, sort ofbecoming a rising star where I work, and not depressed about anything. Everything seems to be going pretty well for the most part. Still, some seems off. I just have no clue.

Do u have Jesus in your life. Have you asked Him to forgive you for your wrongdoings, and thanked Him for laying down His life for you? I have recently lerned tht even if sumthing seems to be going well, it really cant satisfy me for long, and evrything in life is temporary. In less than a hundred years, probably, you will be dead, and can you bring friends, money, a good job, possesions, etc with you to heaven or hell? The only permanent thing is God's overwhelming love for YOU! Imean, Y...O....U....! I believe with all my heart tht this is the answer to your question. I will pray for you!

I go through that phase of what seems like a lack of appreciation for things often, myself. What I try and do in order to counteract this sensation is to remember all the good things that I have, be they big or small, and focus only on them. Okay, so you might be a rising star, well that's great, but it doesn't necessarily mean it is or ever will be a source for you to find happiness. I can say that one positive thing in your situation is that your problem is actually a solution to a potential future problem. Let's say you rise to the stardom level that you are trying to achieve. Well if that does not make you thrilled to be alive then you will still see life on a down to earth level. This will be good for your family and friends as far as your interactions with them, not to mention your own well being. Stardom comes and goes, but if your mind is not totally focused on your successes and you can see that there is more in life, even in the simplest of things, then you will always be successful in being happy :)
Good Luck with your career and your well being!

I think you need to except Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. That always seems to be the missing link, in whatever it may be. At this point in my life that is where I'm at, I'm actually not doing as well as you are. But I'm haveing to put my faith in God, the is my last resort. My father is a true believer. I've watched him within the last 6 months since my mother passed away; now mind you they were married 47 yrs.; he's 74 and he turned to his faith after she passed. Don't get me wrong he has his days but it's unbeliveble what haveing faith and belief in Christ can do. He's always been a true believer. I hope someday I may be as strong in faith. I hope I helped you in some way. I know how you feel though.

Well, let’s see…
You’ve accomplished everything that the external world would pat you on the back for, now what is it you would like to do for yourself. You see if I were to ask you to explain to me who you are, there’s a high chance that you will only be able to tell me about your interest and your accomplishments. Never once will you be able to answer my question. Who are you? There are no prescribed routines that anyone can give you for you to find happiness, truthfully that has to come from yourself. It is mental. Everything is mind. It does not manifest until it comes from the mind. Understand that frustration and unhappiness lies within stagnation. In order for you to identify what is happening to you, you must understand the person that the thing is happening to. Evaluate yourself. Try taking mental notes of your likes and dislikes… what aggravates you, what relieves you… Try to understand yourself by taking yourself on an internal journey. It seems that you’ve accomplished the external things, and to do so, you would’ve had to prescribe to the course of that external institution wether it be you job or school. Turn to yourself now… something inside of you is stagnant… like a blocked dam that pool of happiness will not begin to flow until you can figure out where to find the release value. As I’ve stated before, there are no specific ways to find happiness for an individual. It is that person’s duty to himself or herself to understand who they are and once knowledge of self is acquires then the dam will break free and you will have what it is you seek.

Poor Baby. I have been there too. Although financial very successful I wan't really happy. I have re-found Christ in my life and it really makes such a difference in me.

Also, read and watch Joel Osteen. He is fabulous and the most inspiring person I have ever heard. I am even going to see him at the end of the month.

Dragon, I can't give you a definitive answer, but I have had the same problem. My personal cure is a pollyanna thing, and you might not like it, but you're welcome to it. I do my best do do something nice, at least once a day, for someone who can not repay me. Sometimes it's really small, like letting someone cut ahead of me in traffic; sometimes it's pretty big... doesn't matter if it's big or small, just that I did something, for someone, so *I* have meaning. You're loved, you know...

Only you know that. Try writing in a journal. You may release some thoughts that way, or if it is persistent think about seeing a therapist to talk things out and maybe you will find your answer.

You are not happy since you are not doing anything to be really happy. You are not fulfilling the purpose of why you are alive. See site below to see what the Dalai Lama and Aristotle say that the purpose is and what top psychologists say to get it.
