It wouldn't bother me as long as it was legal. Many things like that are steeped in tradition and persist for that reason alone. I would have a problem with it, however if the dogs were allowed to roam freely and/or ruin other hunters opportunities. The main problem I have had with hunting sports involving dogs is lack of consideration for other hunters in the area, especially trespassing. Dogs don't know where the boundaries to private property are and all too often their owners follow them regardless. Used in a responsible manner, though, there should be no issue against it.

Hunting with dogs is legal here in Va. I personally don't hunt deer with dogs but I have friends that do and I don't have a problem with it. They use the dogs to run deer out of thick cover and it helps keep the numbers of deer on their property at a reasonable level. They manage the herd to keep the buck to doe ratio in check. As long as a technique is legal it is up to individuals to decide whether or not to participate. Traditional bows versus compounds vs. crossbows. Gun hunting vs. bow hunting. Traditional muzzle loaders vs. scoped in-lines. I hear a lot of hunters argue amongst themselves over different methods of hunting. With all the "antis" out there trying to get hunting stopped, hunters need to be tolerant of each others methods instead of arguing and giving the tree huggers more ammo.

No problem with it at all as long as it's legal. Have never used a hound for them, but don't see how it's different than using them for bird or anything else. Kind of funny though in a way, all the hunting dogs I've had, the hardest part of training them was to STOP them from chasing deer. I imagine that it probably simplifys their training!

I don't care for the idea. I think it kind of dirties the purity of a hunt. If I was starving and needed to feed my family, I'd say anything goes. But even though I do fill the freezer with game, I do it the hard way.
Just my opinion

I live in Virginia, the people i shoot with don't hunt with dogs, and they don't care for it. Me personally , I don't have an opinion, if it works for you, do it, if it doesn't, then don't.

And some folks think dog fighting and/or cock fighting is fun also. Using dogs to hunt deer is on the same inane level.
