Interesting thing about turning the other cheek:

Matthew states whoever strikes you on your RIGHT cheek. . .

To do this a right-handed man would have to hit you backhand. This is a strike like you would give to a slave. What Jesus is in effect saying is that your response to your assailant should be, "You hit me as a slave. Do you dare to hit me like an equal?" Then you can rumble? There's a lot of cultural implication to this that we might not understand. . . .

why should I turn the other cheek - because of my faith in god or my belief in the bible?
I believe in god - he didn't say to give my cheek - except to be kissed.
The bible/Christ says to turn the other cheek.

If you hit a believer they may use one of the many contradictions in their Bible and choose the 'eye for an eye' quote.

Then you'd be in trouble!
