“For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (1 Peter 1:18-19).

Can a Christian be "unglorified"?

A Christian is promised eternal life. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Eternal life is a promise of eternity (forever) in Heaven with God. God promises, “believe and you will have eternal life.” For a Christian to lose salvation, eternal life would have to be taken away. If a Christian is promised to live forever, how then can God break this promise by taking away eternal life?

Kait, It seems like you have answered your own question with Scripture itself. I'm not sure what you want from the rest of us.

We cannot be "unredeemed" once we confess we are sinners and trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ for our eternal security.
Gospel: I Corinthians 15:1-4

I believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God's power and are thus secure in Christ forever.

John 6:37-40, 10:27-30; Romans 8:1, 38, 39; I Corinthians 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5

Kait,

A Christian is one who has received the gift of faith and salvation through Gods Grace, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

We do however have "free will". Just as we have been conceived by our parents, God our heavenly father has created us. Even though our parents love us, we can reject them. In the same way we can also reject God.

The Bible talks of the "unpardonable sin" being a "sin against the Holy Spirit. This is when one has faith, but turns against Gods will, and Scripture.

Remember, even the devil knows God but knowledge will not save him. He rebels and defies God to this day.

Faith in God our Father, and in the redemption bought for us by His son Jesus Christ, and our submission to God's will, along with the works that come from our faith are what saves.

Your friend in Christ,

Mark

Absolutely not ! Impossible ! Can Jesus get back on the cross and reverse what took place? Of course not. I notice that there are many who claim to be Christians who have no assurance of their salvation. How can you rest and be at peace with God if you think you could lose your salvation if you backslide. Many Christians experience this at some time in their life if only for a short period of time but they don't stay there. The only ones who will be in heaven are those who are already saved. You can't even get to heaven unless you are saved. Someone does not understand justification because they said you can be unjustified. Justification is a one time process and its means to be acquitted. It is a law term, like when you go to court. God has acquitted us in Christ and found not guilty because of the finished work of Christ. Now is God going to change His mind and take me back to court and say guilty. No way ! God does not disinherit me from the kingdom. Some of you have a very poor perspective of God and I am sure it grieves the Holy Spirit because you do not trust God to keep you. Salvation is the gift given by God. A true Christian is born again spiritually, We are all born physically, so how can a person be unborn. No one can be unborn spiritually anymore than they can physically. If you can lose your salvation than you are stronger than God because Jesus says no one can pluck you out of His hands or the Father's hands. 1 Timothy 1:12b; For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day.
Stop believing the lies of the enemy and the teachings of false doctrines and read the Word of God. If you are born of God you are eternally secure in Christ Jesus and God wants you to know that. This is not a license to live an ungodly life but encouragement to love the Lord and trust Him to enable you to live a godly life. Faith in God is trust. If you don't trust that He is able to keep you then your faith is in vain and God is not an indian giver. He does not save and take it back.

May God richly bless you all.

some scripture tells us that if we lost it we never had it. and one tells us that there is no return to saltiness once we lose our salty flavor. There is also a verse that says none can be taken or lost from the Father's hand.

My thought is that Satan is a great deceiver and can fool some into thinking they have the Spirit in them. If they still hate their brother than they are fooled. Since men are often fooled ,(Proverbs 16:2) All the ways of man seem innocent to himself, but motives are weighed by the Lord., some never had it to begin with.

A person is capable of losing their salvation by way of a heart that becomes hardened and a lose of desire to feel the guilt or need of repentance. Repentance is vital to the continued life of a believer. When we lose the vitality of repentance we can become callused. Then like scripture says, spit out for being Luke warm.

Yes, a person can lose their salvation. God knows every ones battle and knows better the heart of a person than the person knows them self. Grace and Mercy , I think may be greater than we can imagine.

We serve an awesome God.

Jesus' blood never fails.

Although salvation is much deeper than most anticipate. Paul say's, "Work out your salvation with fear and trembling".
Only a true believer will do this. As I walk this journey I learn of the depths of salvation. I've learned that it is much more than a prayer. I love what John Piper say's, "Every time I preach I preach as if every ones souls hang on the edge of hell." In other words he doesn't treat his congregation as if they were all saved and good to go.

We should work out our salvation with fear and trembling for it is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Broad is the path that leads to destruction.

A promise is a promise and cannot be broken. In the same way that "God cannot lie". The only that cannot be saved is he who denies Christ Jesus to the end. Jesus reads what is in people's heart, and that matters most of all.

John 6:39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.

This verse seems to indicate that all who belong to Jesus will never be eternally lost "unredeemed". But this statement also raises the age old question of free will verses predestination, and it's not easily answered. All I can say for certain is that we should live our lives in obedience to the Lord and rest in His assurance of salvation. It is a gift freely given, grab hold of it in faith.

You can still sin, but you will be convicted of it, Once you believe Jesus Christ is your savior and went to the cross for you, and asked The Lord into your life, with repentance and forgiveness, you will be saved, we can't lose our salvation if we really have it.

Good question, Kait. I think you've supported your question well. A Christian, one who has repented of their sins and put their faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior has been purchased by the blood of Christ, adopted into the family of God. Nothing can pluck us from His hand. Once saved, always saved and AMEN!
