One thing is, I am an ATHEIST from the Middle East who wanted to escape persecution. Another reason is for economic opportunity and a more liberal culture. Why do you want me to keep my "culture"? I could care less about it. MONEY means more to me than backwards traditionalism.

Probably because people are ignorant... or just plain curious as to why you have moved. Besides, why does anyone go to another county? I am sure there are hundreds of other people all with different reasons for seeking a new life in a new country (being an Atheist in the Middle East can't be easy), I can understand why you would want to be in a more liberal minded place, but in every culture there are redeeming qualities or traditions that are of value...and money is not all that glitters in the world.

I'm on the fence with that argument, I believe that the entire planet should be a melting pot with no borders, which isn't happening any time soon but you know what I can't stand?

When a certain group escapes a grave situation in a certain country ... they move to the 'first world' then want to complain about their way of life, I'm in new york and see this alot among Muslims and Hispanics...

I'm Hispanic and SO pissed off when I hear Latin immigrants talking sh*t about the U.S. and Americans, it's like ... "THEN GO BACK"

I see where you are coming from , but people on both sides are guilty..

Some people who complain about Muslims in Europe are simply racists who don't' like them out of ignorance, yet there are groups who make that comment because like other groups I've seen Muslims who come to the U.S. or Europe and proceed do nothing but belittle the liberal first world way of life all the while living the good life with Dollars, Euros and Pounds, it's really frustrating

If wish all oppressed groups can go to Europe and flourish but if it's to insult and denounce European ways, they are welcome to stay in the middle east

Everyone has different reasons for immigrating. You have your reasons, and they are good ones. Don't worry about justifying your actions.

I know many Muslim people in Europe, especially in France, come from North Africa because those used to be French colonies, so the people, once Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia gained their independence felt that there was more opportunity in France.
In Germany there are many North African, and Turkish Guest Workers that came after World Wars I and II to replenish the working age population killed during the war.

Good for you for doing what is best for you!

Peace to you this is an answer I gave to someone else but its close to your problem Just be yourself and remember money is not everything Peace! It's not the religious people that are the problem it is the rich who pretend to be religious and control religion for their long and short term materialistic goals at the expense of the followers in all religions! Don't listen to those with position instead rely on your communication with your Creator instead remember there are no intermediate rs between you and THE CREATOR ! Not Adam or Eve Not Noah Not Abraham Not Ismael Not Jacob Not Moses Not David and Solomon And Not Buddha Not Mary John or Jesus Or Mohamed Not Nana Bush Or Wasakichuck Peace and Blessing be upon them All and GOD BLESS US ALL TOO EVERYONE!

Take a deep breath and relax!!!

You might admit that you don't fit the usual Middle Eastern immigrant.

With your attitude you'll probably find your own niche

How do you handle being an apostate?

Have you given up all contact with relatives?

A friend of mine ,who feels as you do, took his family and had to immigrate to NZ to get away from it all

What I hate is those individuals who come to the UK for economic opportunity and end up criticising people in the UK for the ways in which they conduct their lives.

I can reason with someone who just wants to earn money but dont come here and dictate. We accept you, so you accept us.

wow I'm definitely starring this question, it's so true, and many people just make assumptions on why middle easterners come to America as well, they're still wrapped up in stereotypical thoughts about the subject at hand.
