Being "very athletic" has nothing to do with sweating, whether you're active or not; you can blame that on your genes and environment! The correct consideration is how much you sweat, not how athletic you are (I know some people who sweat just sitting in an air-conditioned movie theater, while others don't sweat even after running a marathon! Seriously!).

So, considering just the "sweat" problem, deodorants only mask odors, they don't do anything about the perspiration that causes the odors. That's why they make deodorants-only, anti-perspirants-only, and both. So, unless you were speaking generically, you need one that has both. Most such products clearly indicate what they are (i.e., one or the other or both) on the front of the package. I've used all types, except gels, which, to me at least, is a bit "gunky" to apply, and feels "squishy" and weird! Make sure to apply it generously to your underarms (one "swipe" or even two may not be enough), and don't just concentrate on the "center" of your armpits; apply it at least 3 inches above the "center", and 3 inches below to create a broad "shield", so to speak.

If the odor is still prevalent, then use perfume or cologne, etc, as a backup; just apply it directly to your underarm AFTER applying the deodorant/anti-perspirant. The heat and sweat will activate the scent (just don't overdo it, or you'll smell like a supermodel that just wrestled with a bear!).

Good luck, and - - dare I say it - - don't "sweat" it!

Are you using powder or gel? Sometimes that makes a difference. I noticed the gel doesn't keep as well as the powder.

I play hockey and I use Secret. I use the regular version but they have a stronger version called Secret Platinum.

If after using the strong deodorants it turns out you still have problems, visit your doctor. It might be a gland problem or a diet problem, but they can advise you best on how to fix it.

I find that women's deodorant sucks. I use men's! It really doesn't make you smell "manly" or anything...but it works so much better! I suggest Right Guard Xtreme. WORKS GREAT! Feel free to email/im me for more advice!

Certain Dry. You use it at night and last like 72 hours or something. Its at all drugstores. Or Drysol, it's perscription. I have overactive sweat glands and these are the only ones that keep me dry.

I use Tom's it does not have aluminum (aluminum has been proven to increase your risk for Alzheimer's) and they make it in an enviormantal friendly factory. I play volleyball and it works well for me.
