This out-dated persecution still goes on but there are many other rules from the Old Testament that Christians abandon as frivolous or evil, why?

Jewish familys raise children for the most part to be free thinkers, part of their heritage. Christianity for the most part is more about mind control--punishment--not questioning what the "pastor" tells you to do--basically--most of the masses with christianity are fixated with whoever taught them the religion. Big difference between how Judism is presented to people and christianity. Having your thought processes in a box usually leads to narrow mindedness.

Reformed jews have ended their taught belief that homosexuality is not pleasing to God. Their are certain sects within Christianity that have changed with the world and now ordain homosexuals. ALL Christians and faiths should welcome homosexuals with open arms no matter what, however ordaining them and promoting them in an active homosexual lifestyle as pleasing to God is not biblical. I dont understand why this issue is such a huge deal. A tiny percentage of people are gay, why is this brought up so much? With all of that said, homosexuality is brought up way too much by Christians as being some sort of posterchild of sin, which in itself is not right either. Gods peace :)

What does God's word say about homosexuality?
1. Homosexuality DEPARTS from God's blueprint for sexual intimacy. (OT- Gen.2:21-24; Gen 19:4-5; Lev.18:22; Lev.20:13) (NT- Rom.1:18; Rom.1:26-27; 1 Cor.6:9-11)
2. Homosexuality is NOT different than any other behavior OUTSIDE of GOD's will. *Orientation toward one sin doesn't legitimize it. *Homosexuality is not genetic.
3. Homosexual temptations must be RESISTED like every other WRONG DESIRE. (James 1:14; 1 Cor.10:13)
4. Homosexuality cannot be CONDONED simply because their Homosexuality is growing: a.) in numbers...everybody is not doing it; b.) in acceptance...politically correct is not correct.
5. Homosexuality does not become ACCEPTABLE if it is practiced MONOGAMOUSLY.
6. Homosexuals can find FREEDOM from the homosexual lifestyle...
a.) LISTEN to GOD's Word (1 John 2:15-17)
Call it what God calls it (REPENT)
b.) ENTRUST yourself to GOD (Jeremiah 31:3) Receive His love, forgiveness and acceptance. Ask Him to strengthen you to overcome.
c.) ACCEPT reality (1 John 2:1-2) Victory is often a process NOT only an event. Failure will lead to discouragement.
d.) DETERMINE to FLEE temptation. (2 Cor.6:17) Break all past associations, (Rom.13:14) AVOID places that expose you to it.
e.) ENLIST accountability partners. (2 Tim.2:1-2; Prov.18:24) Find someone to Disciple you and to question you and keep you accountable.
f.) RUN TO THE LORD CONSTANTLY. (1 John 1:9 for forgiveness; Heb. 2:18 for Help and Isaiah 40:31 for strength)

God can give us victory! (Ephesians 3:20-21)

There is hope for all! (Jeremiah 29:11)

Christians do not persecute them but treat it just like any other sin. Love the sinner, but not the sin.

You have a skewed attititude of Christianity. Just because Christianity does not condone and justify homosexuality, does not mean that Christians want to persecute gays. You would find, (if you did any research into the subject) that most AIDS hospices and such are run by Christians. Some persecution! I would also dare a homosexual to openly declare themselves so at an ultra orthodox synagogue.

I don't really know how close Jews follow the Bible.
The Bible says that homosexuality is an abomination to God.
We (Christians) shouldn't persecute them, but we have to know that it IS a sin against God. I don't know about Jews or anyone else for that matter, but I believe the Bible.

Christians still fear them, Jews not so much.

The only logical reason to persecute them that I can think of is the fear that everyone will like homosexuality so much that we will fail to reproduce and our species will die out. I'm guessing this must be at the root of the Christian problem with homosexuality.

Christians use the new testament also and it tells us that sex outside of marriage is a sin.

Not Christians: fundamentalists. All of the Christians I know have no problem with gay people or their spirituality and all of the fundamentalists I know do.

Excuse me?? Traditional Judaism considers homosexual acts as a violation of Jewish law (halakha).

Biblical Prohibition:

According to the Bible, homosexual acts are "to'evah," an abomination.

In Leviticus 18:22, it is written: "And you shall not cohabit with a male as one cohabits with a woman; it is an abomination."

And in Leviticus 20:13, it is written: "And if a man cohabits with a male as with a woman, both of them have done an abominable thing; they shall be put to death; their blood falls back upon them."
