There are very few people I like more than my dogs, that doesn't include my family. I once had a bf who complained that I paid more attention to my dogs than him. I thought about it, decided he was right, and moved on without him.

I have to agree with cookie on my mind. People come and go, but a dog is a lifelong friend and companion. I mean, how can you not pay attention to a Dachshund?-they are so great! lol. Maybe you two could bond together with your Dachshund. If she can't get along with an animal you love, then maybe she's not willing to compromise. Find someone who does love your dog as much as you. But you should make time for the ones you love also.

No it is not wrong your dog is going to be with you for many years to came. Your girlfriend well if she is complaining about the dog she wont be with you for that long.
You need to find a girlfriend who will love your dog and not feel threatened by the attention that you give your dog.
I love my dogs and so does my Hubby. I would never be with any one who did not love my pets as much as I love my pets. They are my four legged kids and they are not going any where.

No, it's not wrong. Girls will come and go - but your doggy is a forever companion! :)
But you shouldn't treat people badly - if you want a girlfriend and possibly a wife one day, you're going to have to divide your time better.
Maybe you should find a girl that enjoys your doggy as much as you do! That way all three of you can spend time together.

The dog can't take care of itself so not wrong in taking care of it but your girlfriend is the human so what do you think? Dogs come and go, girlfriends too unless she is special and paying more attention to your dog makes me wonder where she fits in your life.

If your are consider a long term relationship with your girlfriend and she is as important to you as your Dachshund, than it is wrong.
If you are not , than there will be no issue.

Well, its like this. I have been with my man for almost 4 years. He has a boxer that he treasures.....more than me. One night because it was so cold outside he said that if I didn't let his dog in the house he was going to go sleep outside with her. So I threw him a pillow. I think it is very immature for a guy (or a girl) to put a pet first. Especially if you plan on having a future with this girl. Don't get me wrong, you shouldn't have to choose....but don't make your girlfriend feel like she isn't better than a dog.

No, your not wrong. Your girlfriend will probably dump you, you'll have your Doxie for years. Find a woman that shares your love of dogs.

How does your girlfriend feel about it?
And why do you pay more attention to your dog than your girl?

Not at all. But I would also expect you to have a girlfriend that loves your dog as much as you do! If not, you will have a problem.
I expect my partner to love and respect my fur-babies. If not, they are soon not my partner!
