1 Timothy 6:3-5 (New Century Version)

3 Anyone who has a different teaching does not agree with the true teaching of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that shows the true way to serve God.4 This person is full of pride and understands nothing, but is sick with a love for arguing and fighting about words. This brings jealousy, fighting, speaking against others, evil mistrust,5 and constant quarrels from those who have evil minds and have lost the truth. They think that serving God is a way to get rich.

i think that works for alot of people on this.

and you know its true.

When you're right, you're right.

Yahoo! should fix it to where you'd have to read this, like, 3 times anytime you came to R&S, before you could answer any questions (or ask them).

Well, sure, what do you think the Bible's going to say? Hardly an objective source. But I wonder if people like Pat Robertson and the other televangelists have read that part about getting rich.
John, "interpit"? The word is interpret.
And how about 1 Timothy 5:23? "Stop drinking water and use a little wine...."

The greatest problem with the apostle's re-interpretation of any Jesus statement (or idea), is that there is only one true way to god, AND at the same time saying that alternative methods are all wrong from the get go.

This is largely the influence of the deciple Paul, who apparently was so distrustful of "outside knowledge" that he felt compelled to throw scorn on it out of fear.

You can read in Romans and Corinthians and elsewhere Paul's problems with knowledge, the body, and women.

Now why would you want to disparage them. They are only preaching Gods word aren't they. (The fruits of Sola Scriptura). They just interpit the scripture a little different than you. So who are you to say their wrong I mean they speak in tongues and get words of wisdom just like you and even speak directly to god and Jesus and are answered are you. Or are you looking to start a counter protestant against Protestant new reformation or something
Aren't they entitled to interpit the bible anyway they wish they are Pastors Ministers Profits Teachers and Apostles aren't they. In fact this is the year of seven its in Jobe don't you know so you have to send a gift of 70, 700, 7000 or any combination of seven to get your reward and become prosperous don't you know your not supposed to be poor .

It's true. And I tell you what else is true: That 85% of Christians claim to understand The Bible and then end up following Creflo Dollar and Joel Osteen instead of Jesus Christ!

I agree with you. Most people do make a religion to get rich. Have a look at that Hillsong religion, its a good example. I am not one of them because I believe that:
"The kingdom of God is inside you, is all around you"
Believing in God is enough for Him and me. I do not need to donate money to a church to worship God.

Why is it ok for people to rewrite, not translate into another language, but literally rewrite the Bible into whatever they want it to be interpreted to but mormons are so terrible for having another book of scriptures?

Arent you adding and taking things away from the Bible when you reword it according to whatever it is you think it should be?

Translating into another language is one thing. Rewriting the entire Bible based on what you think it was suppose to say is adding and taking away, is it not?

Anyone that uses these new Bibles has no business criticizing mormon, imo.

It is. But why on earth would anybody who believes in Scripture use "The New Century Version" for ANYTHING??

They may call it "dynamic equivalence" - but a bad paraphrase is a bad paraphrase, no matter what you want to call it?
