It came up on a fake loan firm warning site.

You're very smart not to go to a payday loan. They will eat you in interest.

Also, no legitimate loan office is going to have a yahoo address.

You're best idea is to get yourself on a written budget, have a garage sale, and think about another job. You could pay off 5500 within months with a second job and just a few months with a second job with tips.

"Smith_LoanFirm@yahoo.com" is the email address of a scammer. Yahoo! had probably suspended the account before you responded.

Generally speaking, no one does bad credit, no collateral personal loans. They are just too risky.

Things to watch out for to avoid scammers:

1) No legit lender trolls message boards looking for borrowers.
2) No legit lender has a generic email address (yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc.)
3) No legit lender requires you to pay an upfront fee before they will release the money.

Try:
www.prosper.com
www.lendingclub.com

Both are legit but neither will guarantee you that you will get a loan. In fact, anyone who guarantees you a loan is also a scammer......

You are very smart not to get a payday loan- they will drown you in interest.

Try a google for bad credit loans and compare interest rates. There is credit out there.

if you have bad credit i'm afraid the only type of loan you'll be able to get is a secured loan in which you would already have to have the money to secure... and with bad credit any loan will have a super high interest rate.

Be careful...these bad credit places are often just a temporary fix....and you'll end up financially in a much worse place than you are now.
