Point taken, C.S. I guess I should have asked, "what's the point of having any immigration standards if we don't send those who violate them back home to get in line".

Oh my poor incredibly biased Antisjedi....
you are under the mistaken assumption that everyone on the planet has an inherent right to come here. They don't.

I can't afford a yacht. That doesn't mean I get to have one anyway.

Btw, Antisjedi (previously known as sexy mama): Years ago I tried to migrate to Australia, but I couldn't get a long-term Visa. Guess what I did? I stayed here! In your world, I should have said f*** them and went anyway.

Maybe I could have burned an Australian flag and chanted, "long live the USA" while I was there.

If we don't send illegal aliens back we are sending the wrong message to immigrants. We are saying, why bother with the legal process just come to Mexico or Canada and hop the fence.

Antisjediondos,

Immigrants should add to this country not take away, its unfair that taxpayers should have to pick up the bill for those from other countries who choose (yes choose) to live here. A better life should never be at the expense of the citizens, this is why one must posses certain skills or at least the ability to take care of themselves before coming here so that the taxpayers will not need to take care of them.

The first step is to put up a fence. We don't know that it will work until we actually try to secure the border. This has been in the plans for years.

Once the border is reasonably secure, then we can concentrate on those in the country. Some want to instantly legalize the illegals. The best option is to enforce current laws. That is punish companys that hire illegals. Once companys get the idea, they will stop hiring illegals, and then illegals will have no reason to come here any more... many will start to head home.

there is no point. fortunately things are changing and the fence is being built and is working to keep further illegals from entering the U.S. FROM THE ARTICLE "The fence works, residents north and south of it say. At least it works for now on this snippet of the line." **our problem seems to be moving to our neighbors to the north. FROM THE ARTICLE "a crackdown on illegal immigrants south of the border has caused a ripple effect in Peel Region, as taxpayers have so far doled out more than $70,000 in accommodation bills for people claiming refugee status in Canada." EDIT; ICE is removing illegals every day guerrilla style. coming to a town near you.***FROM THE ARTICLE "Somos Un Pueblo Unido director Marcela Diaz said immigration officials have been going after people without criminal records or warrants." ***sorry folks you can't enter the U.S. illegally and they don't need a warrant as immigration is a civil violation not criminal so the rules are quit different. We have what amounts to an imaginary border. We have to literally make/build a border, heavily guarded. This border has to coincide with making change from the inside of this country. That will send them back.

What's your definition of a border, man? Some borders are porous, like those in Europe, some are very well guarded, like between North and South Korea. Most are somewhere in-between. So, borders don't have an essence or anything that would require that we kick out illegal immigrants in order to defend the 'being' of a border. OK?

Why should we have to promise anyone the right to come to the USA. When the illegals break our laws, we should never reward them with anything except jail time for breaking our laws.
