It depends on the person. I love to fish for bluegill, I also love to eat bluegill.

On the otherhand, I HATE catfish and DO NOT fish for them either!

I love fishing and am a good angler. Bluegill have so many bones and are pan fish, which you need to catch quite a few for a meal . Catfish need to be skinned but I would think because they are larger, that would be the better one. A nice catfish will make a meal. You must make sure you don't touch the underneath fins and skin, as they are poisonous. I found out the hard way. I think it's best to know how to cook different types of fish as some are oily and really fishy tasting. Lemon juice and tomatoes are two good things to cook with fish. Try them both and see what YOU think! Happy Fishing!

Good question, however you don't say if you mean better to catch or eat.

I love fishing catfish on a slow flowing river or sitting along a backwater dam at a reservoir and waiting for them to run with my line. I think they fight better than my favorite freshwater fish, small mouth bass. Catfish if fried up with a light seasoned flour mix and maybe some fries or hush puppies is hard to beat also.

I can tell you that being said, there are few meals that will top a mess of fresh bluegills caught out of some cold water or even ice fishing that day and fried up. They do not put up much of a fight unless caught on a cane pole, flyrod or extreme ultralight equipment. One thing about Bluegills is that where you find one you will find a mess of them which is good because you will need a lot more to fill you and your folks than catfish.

Now you have gone and done it. I am going to have to go catch some tonight.

Damn that is toughie being from the South Catfish and Bucketmouths are my favs but bluegill is up there too. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM I have to say I ejoy both equally both have a nice set of challenges with them. I have to say thought the best thing about Blugills though and this makes them good to catch is the fact they are AWESOME at swipping bait.

Cats on the other are a great way to unwind after a hard day of work and sitting on the pier at Chickahominy River and enjoying a beatuiful sunset.

Fishing for Catfish is kind of like watching paint dry but they do taste good. Bluegill are fun to catch on light tackle and are great fried, even though a pain to clean. Kind of close, but I vote for breaded fried catfish.

I prefer catfish but thats just me. Both are good. Catfish are easier to catch year round and it doesn't take lots of fish to get a good meal. Bluegill it takes at least for me 6 fish for a meal.

Both are great eating, bluegill is better grilled than catfish. As for catching man they are both good. Although year around catfish are easier to catch.

Nothing tastes better than fried bluegills, or any panifish for that matter. And in my opinion, bluegills fight harder than most fish pound for pound.
I never cared for catfish for table fare, nor do I enjoy cleaning them, but they are a blast to catch.

Brim (bream) is some of the best fish you can eat. Catfish is good too. By the way, we call bluegill, brim.
