Colleges usually look at what you have.

Don't fret too much. A lecturer worth his salt will be able to decide if he/she likes what they see from a postcard size image.

When I applied to college I took a bundle of images of varying sizes and a CD with some images.

Universities usually like to see the work you did at college when applying for undergraduate programmes. When you apply to do postgraduate courses they may expect to see a more formal portfolio.

The standard USED to be 11 x 14, not sure if it still is, but I would not present anything under 8 x 10, then matted or mounted to 11 x 14.
