The reason, I ask that, because I actually heard a person say that and I think it is a dangerous practice, for people who are prophysing houses and cars, which I feel is somewhat out of order for a prophet of God and then when the word doesn't come to pass they try to cover themselves by saying the person did not do what they were told to do this brings confusion to the body of christ, I feel this is equivelant to being a sooth sayer which is mentionen in deuteronomy within the 18th chapt, what is your opinion do you think I am judging too harshly. Also in no way am I making an type of negative comment against prophesy. I believe it is a true an awesome gift.

Dear Morelike,

No there is not.
However there is scripture that makes clear whether prophecy is from God or from man.

Read Deuteronomy 18:20-22 to find out how to determine whether a prophecy is from God or not.

About 10 years ago I was asking the LORD to make it very clear to me whether I should make another effort to become what my mother and other relatives are. They are Watchtower witnesses. I knew that we could both be wrong but we could not both be speaking God's Word.

The Author of life opened my eyes to the verses in Deuteronomy and opened my understanding to show me that because the jws had prophesied specific dates for Armageddon which did NOT happen, I should not listen to them..

Now they say it was only some overzealous jws who made the prophecies but not the Watchtower. But many many people have provided specific Watchtower articles showing that such a claim simply is not true.

They also say they are learning. But God's Word says they are false prophets.

Prophecy when it is from God is not conditional.

Edit:
I agree with you on the danger of "prophesying" things. They may be thinking along the lines of Psalm 37:4,5 but I do not believe the "desires of your heart" necessarily applies to things like cars or other material things. After all Jesus promised us that we would have trials and tribulations.

I do stand corrected about such things as Jonah's prophecy to the people of Nineveh. When I said there is no conditional scripture I was thinking along the lines of your question regarding cars and other things.

For His glory,
JOYfilled

No.

All prophecy has either been fulfilled in the past, or will be in the future (such as the book of Revelation past chapter 3).

All biblical prophecy is 100% accurate and never fails ever.

Yes.

Many times the prophets of the Old Testament warned people that if they did not repent and change their ways then terrible things would happen.

In fact, the prophet Jonah was upset that the people of Nineveh repented and God did not destroy them. See the book of Jonah: http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/jonah/jonah1.htm

With love in Christ.

There are examples that prophecies are conditional. The story of Jonah and the city of Nineveh is one such example.

well one could make the case for that concerning the O.T stuff that dealt stricly with the jews BEFORE Christ....

in the sense that..when God punished them repeatdly
he say's IF they would change back to the right way
the punishment would be lifted...otherwise the punishment
would continue...

Not that I know of......

Prophetic Scripture will come to pass with or without our approval.

For instance:
Christ is coming back soon. Some people reject this truth......but it's still the truth regardless of what they think.

Prophesies predicted by MAN, will be caused by MAN. There is no way to guarantee that they will happen, unless someone wants them to.

It's all the redacted parts that havent been released yet. The churches are stonewalling the Freedom of Information Act and refusing to release declassified documents. Cheney is behind it. Dont hold your breath for any new revelations.
