No.

Baby Carrots are carrots that were harvested at a younger age. They are sweeter and more tender.

They can do radishes like that too...

Baby carrots are not just shredded up carrots, nor are they the tips of the carrots, they are carrots that are picked at a very young age and are traditionally much smaller than the average carrot. They are as they name implies, baby carrots.
Does this help you shut your friends up, or does this answer shut you up? Just curious.

The carrots that are about 2" long, rounded ends, that you see in bags or on dip trays are made from whole, full sized carrots, cut down and spun in a device to round edges.

Real baby carrots usually still have the green end attached (just a smidge of it) and are about as thick as a pencilor Sharpie marker.

Yes and no. I used to buy what I thought were baby carrots and always looked for the lowest prices. What I found out was that some "so called baby carrots" were actually large carrots ground down to look like baby carrots. You really need to read the packaging carefully to see if they are really baby carrots. Baby carrots always cost more. Good clue.

Sugar pie is right. The baby carrots you buy in bags are just big, regular carrots that are put through a special cutting machine to cut them down and shape the edges. Here's more info: http://www.usatoday.com/life/lifestyle/2004-08-11-baby-carrot_x.htm

True baby carrots are hard to find and look like the whole carrot, just a tiny one. They are quite expensive.

Baby carrots are just that young carrots..they are picked when they are smaller and sweeter. If you notice, the larger carrots are not as sweet.
