One day I read that Dianetics could help me with my life. So I went to a Scientology Org. and did the personality test, and they pointed out all the areas that I needed to improve on and Dianetics was the way to go. I underwent about 6 hours of Auditing and felt really uncomfortable with their methods of Auditing. I keep getting pushed into buying books and courses from them. I don't want to be a part of them anymore. How do I break ties with these people?

Run like hell! No seriously, just tell them you are not interested and to stop contacting you.

This Gandalf Parker guy is always on these sites saying that the people who have negative experiences with scientology are wrong just because they didn’t happen to him. He’s commented on how much he got out of the courses that you took. So Parker if you’re out there answer me this; if you got so much out of scientology and you say that scientology is not expensive then why did you quit? Why didn’t go on? Just don’t make sense to me.

And by the way.....I think calling someone week minded because he doesn't want to be a part of it anymore is just low. Although you definitely sounded like a pissed off scientologist when you said it. They just hate criticism don't they?

It's not easy, from what I've been told. Don't answer the phone or your door for them. If one accosts you on the street, be very straightforward: "I do not believe in Scientology nor do I want any more to do with the organization. Leave me alone." A restraining order might be necessary. Be careful; they've been known to do things like put rattlesnakes in mailboxes. Obviously, some are worse than others, but no sense taking chances.

BTW, this advice applies to all religious organizations, though some have a reputation for having pushier salespeople than others!

Im sorry but it sounds to me like you are weak minded. You seem to let them sell you more each time. Just quit and dont go back. I had no problem taking a couple courses from them and then leaving. Apparently something like 62% of the people do the same thing.

It sounds as if you might have the same problem whether you check out any religion, or volunteer organization, or make money scheme. EITHER KEEP GOING OR QUIT. And do not get involved with baptists, young republicans, peta, or amway or you will end up in the same boat.

edit: Sister, your post is improper and so would a response. I will email you

Good Question!

I can tell you just where to go to get very good detailed answers.

Try: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FreezoneOrg

That is a yahoo group formed by practicing scientologists who have left the church of scientology over problems with the church management's direction of that organization.

The scientologists there are knowledgeable of the subject & practice of scientology yet not involved with the operations of the cultlike church. Having left the church many of the members have some measure of expertise in helping others who are currently involved with that organization.

It is a site that welcomes all people whether or not they are scientologists. Stop by for a chat.

Since you're not a staff member or part of the Sea Organization, it's fairly easy. Simply tell them that you don't want to be a part of Scientology anymore because it doesn't work for you and for them to leave you alone. They will try to pressure you, but don't cave in. If they don't stop calling you or send you their barrage of junk mail, then you can always threaten to go to the police. I guarentee that they will shut up if you threaten to do something that will show Scientology in a negative light.

I agree with Gandalf and the others dude. If you want to walk away then just walk away. Dont keep going back and buying more stuff.

Sister you are funny. Thats like asking a christian that liked Sunday School why they didnt join the priesthood. :)
But you are right. Saying it wrong because it happened to him is way stupid. Much better when the people here say its wrong because they read it on a hate site or saw it on South Park. HAHAHAhahhahaha

Unfortunately you fell into a trap but now you have enough presence of mind to want to get out. GOOD FOR YOU! They did and said the same things to me when I was 13.... Shows you their worth.
First off, you need to be as persistant with them as they are with you. Continue to ignore, avoid, etc.... all contact with them.
Secondly, be informed. Don't just listen to them, but also listen to others and learn from them.
I have included some links for you to browse and educate yourself so that you know what to do and when.
You have taken the first step which is the hardest and most important one.

Good luck.

Although I don't know much about Scientology, what I do know is weird.

If you want to make a break from these people, you need to be firm and tell them flat out not to contact you anymore or you will file harassment charges. Stick to your guns and stay away from these people!

May help if you stop going there and let them know you have found another religion or spirituality. Maybe write them a letter saying you no longer want to be a Scientologist. Also throw out any mail you may get from them, and don't answer their phone calls if they do call you.

Run as fast as you can from this cult! Look at how wierd Tom Cruise is because of them! To cut them off try writting a letter to the leader asking the other members not to bother you anymore, if they bother you again, change your phone number and block their e-mail messages, if you have Yahoo report it as spam. Try finding a nice heathy Christian church.
