I was wondering if you can or should wear a uniform while going to a recruiter's office?

I'm gonna enlist into the New Jersey National Guard this January and I already bought myself a uniform (ACU), I know you get them once you sign up but I wanted one anyways...
Should I wear it or can I wear it?
Except my Nametag I know that I can't wear anything what patches are concerned as long as I'm not signed up or part of that unit..

So any tips?

No- don't wear it till you've earned it. It's great that you're excited, and thank you for choosing to serve our country, but don't wear the Uniform until you're told. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of opportunity. Enjoy wearing your civilian clothes while you still can.

You have not earned the right to wear a uniform before joining the Military.

You have no legal right to wear a uniform before being sworn in as a member of the U.S. Military.

You have not as yet been accepted and you have not passed the medical

I believe you would be contravening the "Stolen Valor Act" by doing this, even without any patches, etc. . and you don't need any hassle prior to joining.

Go along to the Recruitment Office in civil attire / clothes.

Don't bother--no one else except the recruiters and the military personnel at the MEPS will be wearing one.

You'll get issued all kinds of stuff after you've signed into your Guard unit--just wait til then to put one on.

Generally it's considered a minor insult for a civilian to wear the uniform before they've earned it. You've got one already? good on ya, when you come in you're that much ahead of the game... but wear it once it's authorized and appropriate

You might offend the recruitment officer. You are trying to look eager to join but the person might look at you and see it as a person wearing a uniform that was not earned.

I would say be normal and don't go overboard.

You are not entitled to wear the uniform until you are actually enlisted and learn applicable customs and traditions, and how to wear it.

DO NOT wear the uniform.

You will offend the recruiter and be an insult to yourself and the NJNG even before you take your "Oath of Enlistment" in January.

Put it in a garment bag in your closet.

If you showed up in my office wearing a uniform you didn't earn, I'd put my size nine where it would do the most good. Don't embarrass yourself or your recruiter.

I agree with wait till you earned the uniform.

I remember in basic at reception couldn't wait to get my uniform after I got to my duty station couldn't wait to take the damn thing off when I got off work. LOL.

A.Mercer is right, I think. If you have an authentic or good replica of the National Guard uniform, you shouldn't wear it. You haven't earned it.
