I understand that it would be easier to track them if they have a license, but we should not give any indication that they are accepted. Giving them a license, gives them mix message. I kind of worry the same for taxes. I keep hearing how illegal pay taxes, but even if they did, they can not pay for the huge amount of services we provide for them. I'm not even talking about the entitlement programs, but roads, police, fire, sewage, schooling ans other programs. People have to be middle class to self support themselves. THe middle class always subsidized for the care of the poor. Yet, because SOME pay taxes, they feel entitled to take or cheat in gaining other public services, like housing programs, medical and others. YEs, they do take cheat in obtaining programs, I recently found out that LA Housing Authority was caught giving away section 8 housing, because people were falsifying documents, and it was in a large scale as well.

My belief, if illegal immigrants wre caught commiting other crimes, there should be a multiplier on their crime. My thoughts is that if they commited a crime, perhaps we should force them into work camps and pay them like we pay prisoners, in pennies. Especially since I keep hearing we need their labor.

Also Driving is a right, not a privelege. THis is the problem with illegal immigrants. It's a gateway crime. If we accept them commiting the crime of crossing our border, them people start forcing us to accept them for commiting other crimes, like driving with out a license. If they drive with out a license, I'm sure they also drive with out insurance. I heard some Hispanic rights group sueing the police somewhere in San DIego so Illegal immigrants would get away with driving drunk. As to tracking them, do they even give us the right address. One of the most common things stolen in California is the regristration stickers on our license plate. DO we actually think they would stick around after they commit a crime. Well some might be stupid, and we might get some fines paid for minor crimes like speeding. If tehy get into a major accident, I think they would move and try to get a new license with a new name. If the state isn't screwed up like CA, they might just try to get it in another state.

Yes and very soon they all (those who have not a criminal background) would have a Driver's License to make their every day routine easier.
The real problem of America is not give away Driver's License to undocumented people, the truth is we cannot any longer let 12 million people living here while we don't know who they are.

Give them Driver's License does not mean, they would get a path to citizenship so they could vote. Legal residents with a Driver's License cannot vote, it would be the same for the undocumented people.
A Driver's License is just a privilege to drive that's all, not a luxurious thing.

PS: The thumbs down represent those who are fear the challenge. Go to school, learn something and stop pretending landscapers, dishwashers are taking our jobs.

No, when driving in Europe & Mexico, I had to have an international driver's license. This is an attempt at voter fraud & a poorly concealed one at that.
Added:
Too many fail to realize that a driver's license with your address on it will allow people to both register to vote, & vote in most states. Any insurance company will sell you insurance in this country (or others) if you have a valid driver's license & the International Driver's License is accepted all over the World... it simply lists citizenship of country, which many object to. Even the old USSR recognized the international license.

No, we should not give them any incentives to stay in the USA. It is a federal crime to aid and abet illegal immigrants, so cities and state politicians who give ID to illegal aliens should be prosecuted, and sentenced to time in prison for their crimes. Peter King is trying to make giving drivers licenses to illegals a crime!

LICENSE BILL MAY SIDESWIPE HILL

In a move that could put Sen. Hillary Clinton on the spot, Rep. Pete King will soon introduce a bill in Congress that would block New York and other states from providing driver's licenses to illegal immigrants. "I believe strongly that the federal government has the right to do it because illegal immigration and homeland security are federal issues," King (R-L.I.) told The Post. EDITORIAL: Hillary's License To Lose?

King, the ranking GOP member of the House Homeland Security Committee, expects to introduce legislation next week with Rep. Pete Sessions (R-Texas) that would prohibit any state from giving licenses to illegal immigrants. King said he decided on the legislation after hearing Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff say that although he opposes giving illegal immigrants driver's licenses, there is nothing the federal government can do to stop a state from doing so.

Of course not, it's an absurd idea. If you can find an illegal to give him a card or license, you can deport him, instead, which is the only thing we should be doing for illegals - giving them a ride home, since aparently they lost track of where thier own country is located. Seriousy, and people think Americans are bad at geography, and least we rarely wander out of the States.

Hell no! The illegals will use them to get credit, vote, and eventually blend in to be a citizen. Absolutely not. (This won't mean they will buy car insurance either!)

I think they should, it would be safer for people on the road, cause some people who are illegal and don't have a drivers license, hence no insurance are driving regardless and when they are in an accident they will flee and make it worst for others on the road
