I have big hands and i'm having some trouble playing my current acoustic guitar because the space between frets are somewhat small. Its a steel string. What acoustic, steel string guitars, have the widest space between frets, under (or around) $300?

Frets spacing is a function of string length (the 12th fret must be located exactly half-way between the nut and the bridge saddle). So look for guitars with the longest distance between the nut and the bridge saddle.

You might try to find a "Baritone" acoustic - they have a longer neck so there's more space on the lowest part of the neck. A classical guitar will have a wider neck, but not more space between the frets. A friend of mine changed a 12 string into a 6 to get more room - you could try that. A link below shows a baritone - it's more than $300 though.

I think Classical Guitars have widely spaced strings, i.e. a wide neck. You can usually find cheap ones at the 'Guitar Center' type places.

Classical guitars. But they have nylon strings.
