Because I'm freaking trying to DRIVE!!

There's a college near where I work, well a technical institute actually, and the students there are the worst for jaywalking.

They have a crosswalk, with lighted signs. There's even a covered second level walkway OVER the road.

But still, the morons continue to stream willy-nilly across the road, regardless of what signal might be flashing on the crosswalk.

Often, it holds up traffic enough that the nearby intersection is totally gridlocked - no one able to move north, south, east or west because some mouth breather in a backpack doesn't want to wait fifteen seconds.

There are many days when I feel that jaywalking should not only be illegal, but should be a capital crime.

I was driving to the store one night at about 7 pm. It was dark out. This couple wearing black coats just randomly stroll out across the street walking slowly. It was in the middle of the block and it was a busy street. I almost hit them because I didn't see them until the last min. I beeped my horn and yelled at them and they yelled back that pedestrians have the right away. This is why jaywalking is illegal. If I hit them it would have been my fault and they would have taken every cent I have and make until the day they die and I would be completely ruined forever.

There are *clearly* identified line crossings on each intersection that show where to cross safely. Also, there is a system at each traffic light crossing where we can push a button and make the crossing, not only easier, but safer. Why some people have to be so stubborn, careless, and irresponsible to not obey the law???? Why is it so difficult to obey the law???? Isn't our lives worth it????? Or it's just for the fun of being the clown of the circus???

It's cross walking. Like cross dressing. Like being gay. Like scaring the bejeebees out of christians. See? It says something in the bible about cross walking. I gotta send a post card to Pat Robertson to find out. But I know it's a sin. Maybe it was on that tablet that Moses dropped just before he announced the Fiftee---TEN!!! Ten Commandments.

Sorry, but this is the worst typo you've come up with. I am usually amused by your typos, but not this one. Jaywaking isn't even a word. Unless it refers to waking up blue jays, who then proceed with their annoying chirping, so I can see why that would be illegal.

Because streets are designed for cars, not pedestrians. Its the same reason you can't drive a motorcycle on a sidewalk.

They (apparently) make a lot of noise. They're quite raucous.

You've probably heard a similar rule about dogwaking without a visible baggie.

Because it is easier to limit this freedom than to clean up the corpses.

Apparently they trust me to own a shotgun, but not to look before I cross the street.
