Yes, many.

I'm an atheist, but I helped out a church that was making lunches for homeless people. It was very rewarding. I've done this a few times with them. I have also bought an extra sandwich at lunch to give to a homeless person, a couple times. And, of course, I've given money, clothes, and other items to charities that help out the homeless.

Many times. Frequently I've been the recipient of complaints it wasn't enough and ultimately the handouts subsidized the whole institution (which is what it has become in my city).

I'd say maybe 1-2 in every 10 homeless people I've met does not want to be homeless and wants the opportunity to get out on their own. I will no longer subsidize the other 8 to help those 2. People have been doing that in India for years and now the untouchables are economically set and they maim and cut up many of their babies at birth to make them more pitiful and therefore better beggars. No thanks.

A few years back, I volunteered in a soup kitchen that fed the homeless.

Yes.

But not exactly the homeless.

I am donating money once a year, on the death anniversary of my father, to a free school (of about 100 students) for poor children, for their lunch on that day.

I am also donating once a year to another institution supporting the education, food, clothing and shelter needs for poor children - the institution which supported my father, for I think about one year before he entered his Engineering college.
I donate this on his birth anniversary.

I also give some small cash to 3 leprosy afflicted persons who come to my house every month for collection of funds for their respective rehabilitation soceities.

This was a small token of service started by my father when he was alive.

I feel grateful and humble at once, for these small opportunities .

Yes. When I lived in London. I not only fed him but assisted in finding him somewhere to live and in the end to gain employment. He was very grateful. Lost track of him, so I haven't a clue how he is now....

Yes. It was a very cold morning and I saw this guy hanging out on the street near the bus station. I bought him a couple burgers and some fries from a Burger King. The best part was that he asked me to go back and get him some extra ketchup.

Of course. I have cooked food that was served to them, and some of the charities I help support provides meals to the homeless, as well as a food pantry, and also through giving to my local church, which provides meals for single, poverty-level women in our congregation and community.

While everyone else always brought home stray animals, I was bring home stray people. lol Used to drive my mom nuts. I would feed them, let them take a shower and I'd wash their clothes. If my clothes fit them,I gave them some clothes. It was fun and I always liked making people happy.
I hand out a little cash these days.

Lina, I have seen the people I give money to run into a store or fast food restaurant and come out eating like they they were starved, Which they were. You've never gone hungry, have you?

We gave a job to a homeless man once, but he quit after a month or so because he didn't want to get his long hair trimmed or pull it back (this was a job preparing food).
