My son is 2 1/2 and it is way past due for him to stop breastfeeding. He is not much of a food eater. He is very meticulous and is limited to the things he likes. He likes chicken, rice, noodles, yogurt, soybeans, noodles and corn. He eats other foods occasionally but that is his main items he likes.
How can I get him to stop breastfeeding and eat a different variety of foods. Have I mentioned that he is very stubborn and he loves to breastfeed? Help me.

I also would like to mention he doesn't like regular milk.
I also know he is to old for it this is why I am asking how to resolve this situation.

I know I am the parent. My son does not always get what he wants when he wants. People who want to be sarcastic a**holes just don't respond.

First of all to all those who are saying that the breastfeeding has gone on for too long check out the World Health Organization which recommends breastfeeding for two years AND BEYOND.
That being said...I can feel your pain. My daughter had a really hard time giving it up. She stopped a bit before her third birthday.
The don't offer don't refuse method works well...so does finding somewhere else to be in the evenings (at least that was when my daughter was most demanding.) If you're not there she'll have no choice but to not have any. I also used band aids to cover my nipples and told her they had boo boos. But really what worked was that my other daughter was hospitalized for a week and a half with Asthma (and I thought breast fed babies didn't get asthma). Since I was at the hospital pretty much all day everyday...my breastfeeding daughter had to cope with Daddy handling things and let's face it he just couldn't help her out with that. When I got back I praised her for being such a big girl and finally she decided that she was a big girl and only babies breastfed.
Good luck...I feel your pain!

The breastfeeding and the eating of a variety of things are two different areas.
Just stop breastfeeding. Don't offer it any more. And if he asks, tell him that he's a big boy now, and that he can't be breastfeed anymore. Just try to stay firm.
The foods he's eating that you mentioned show some variety. It's not too bad.
It's hard with little ones to get them to eat what you would suggest. Stay with the things he likes and try to add something to it. You can have more of your favorite chicken, if you at least try the veggies ...

It is so hard both my sister's breastfed their children until 2 and 1/2 and it was really hard to stop. My daughter is 21 months I still breastfeed her and have not started weaning and 8 weeks pregnant and it's killing my breasts. but anyway I think at that age you can sit them down and acctually talk to them and tell them you don't want to anymore and they have to stop. You could also tell him that is hurts you even if it does not because he doesn't want to hurt mommy. sounds weird but my daughter has been showing interest in stopping because I act like I 'm in pain when she nurses. I don't know just a suggetion good luck I know it's hard.

I can understand him still getting breat milk in a cup but that is way past the okay point for nursing..He is old enough to understand no more..He will take to milk after a few days, and food also. Its new to him because he has had you all this time! Its like any other habbit you have to break with small kids..Patience and consistancy..Good luck

Unless you want him attached to you when he's in the first grade, it's time to wean him. Cut him down to once a day for a week, then off completely. Sure, he'll scream and cry and throw a fit, but that's normal. It will pass.
As far as foods, try to introduce new things to him on a regular basis. There is nothing worse than a picky eater...the worst thing you can do is cater to it. Fix him a regular meal at each mealtime and get as much into him as you can. If you are always fixing something special for him, you'll be doing that for the next 16 years.

You should just strait cut him off! Don't be worried that he's going to starve to death, hunger is good in this case. At first he'll probably throw a fit just to test you and see if you'll give in but when he realizes his breast feeding days are over, his stomach will rumble with hunger and he'll start eating food like crazy! Offer him a small cup of milk as a substitute but not too much to fill him. Trust me, by not cutting him off and letting him get full just mainly off your milk your only hurting him and his nutrition cause at this age he should be eating a variety.

You are the only one who can stop this, He is big enough
to eat food, after A few days of seeing that your not going
to give in he will notice and take on to other foods.
Try making eating fun for him, make shaped muffins and grilled cheese and they got alot in the toddler section.

Yeah, all babies love their bottles too, but you don't let them have them this long! He can use a cup, so just keep saying no, drink from your cup and stick to it! It can take him tasting new foods 15 times or more before he develops a taste for it, so just keep making him try things. He'll eat a bigger variety of foods as he gets older.
