I struggled with eating for my first year of life. I always worried my furless mom because I just didn't care to eat. Here's what my furless mom recommends:
First look at the food you're feeding. Is it a high quality food? If you're feeding low quality food your pup may have a very good reason to not want to eat it.
High quality foods include Canidae, Wellness, Innova, Eagle Pack and Evanger's to name a few. Low quality, stay away from foods include: Science Diet, Purina, Eukanuba, Iams, and just about anything you find at a grocery store or Walmart. For more information on what makes a dog food high quality feel free to email us.
If you're feeding low quality consider switching to a high quality food.
Next look at how often do you switch foods? Did your dog refuse to eat a food for a day or two so you bought a different food? Sometimes dogs just aren't hungry and won't eat. Skipping a meal here and there is fine, going a couple days refusing food should signal a trip to the vet, there could be a health issue.
Switching food all the time because your dog refuses a meal or two teaches a dog to be picky. They learn if they hold out they'll get something new and maybe something better.
Feed your dog two meals a day, leave the food down for twenty minutes and remove it when twenty minutes is up whether or dog ate or not. Don't offer the dog anything to eat until the next meal time. Offer the food again at the next meal time. Repeat. Your dog will learn that they need to eat what they get when they get or they are hungry for awhile. A healthy dog won't starve itself.
If you've exhausted all the options above, and your dog has no medical problems then consider looking at new foods.
Mom tried with me for a year to get me to eat what I should be. She rotates between Canidae and Innova Evo which are both high quality foods. But I was never a big eater, and mom always worried, even though the vet kept saying that I'm healthy as can be and growing normally. Then we found Eagle Pack Holistics and Evanger's. Now I'm excited about my food, just like my lab brothers are excited about theirs. Its a win win for us. Mom feels good that I'm getting a high quality food and eating like a "normal" dog, and I get food I enjoy. Now mom's gonna have to worry about me getting fat LOL, (Sorry Bindi don't see that happening ~Bindi's Furless Mom)

I recommend Solid Gold or Wellness. Both are great foods nutritionally, and Solid Gold is considered one of the best tasting dog foods. It's a very high quality food. I have a toy poodle that is a very picky eater. She refused three foods before I heard about Solid Gold. She eats the hund-n-flocken brand for adult dogs. It can't be bought at PetSmart or Petco, but at smaller pet stores and Pet Supplies Plus.

A cheap and easy way to solve this is to put 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil on their food, it worked for both my super picky dogs

My dog is only picky, if its a cheap brand, or he is bored with it. I like Canin brand. My dog loves it! Also, remember its all in the presentation make it sound good. Wow, this looks great, ummmm. Mine falls for it everytime. Or a little beef jerky sprinkled on top and mixed in works.

My dog is the same way. I give her, her dog food. I leave it there till she eats it and I don't feed her anything else. If she is hungry enough she will eat it on her own. I also feed her canned food with her dry food. It doesn't always help but its something.
