We are getting married at our local renaissance festival. We each choose our own character according to our interests. I chose princess, he chose pirate. (opposites DO attract) We both have our clothes and names, etc... But there is one problem.

Many renaissance buffs have mentioned that although there were both pirates and princesses during the ren period, chances of the two actually marrying were HIGHLY unlikely. I do understand this, but really don't care.

I do have an idea, I thought about writing a short story, which would begin kinda like a fairy tale. The story would explain, quite briefly how the pirate & princess met and what circumstances there would be for a King to actually allow such a wedding to take place with his blessing. I want to have several story cards printed and placed on the seating benches.

*Both our parents are divorced
* Groom is Captain James, the Sleeveless Terror of the High Seas
* I am Lady Ashley 3rd daughter to Kind David (1 of 6 daughters)

Try this... The princess got kidnapped by a ruthless pirate bent on holding her ransom (or raping her - whichever way you like it!!!). This handsome, gorgeous pirate a-la Robin Hood type was commissioned by the King to rescue her. Reward for the pirate hero is her hand in marriage. You can throw in the fact that the pirate hero is actually the illegitimate son of some noble man or duke or something!!! Enjoy!!!

Aww, how sweet.

Try something like, Princess lives with king and many other sisters at a castle by the sea. One day she was taking a walk by the sea when she saw the pirate, his fellow mates etc.

Went over because this was something new. Never saw it before, being a princess. Only read about it in books. Talked, hung out, watched sunset together, and the magic between em clicked.

King gave his blessings cos with Captain James being the Sleeveless Terror of the High Seas, he could help the king protect his sea and land and ships blahblah from other pirates. That sorta thing.

yep

Just keep in mind that not all pirates were the harsh sea dogs usually presented as cuttroath criminals. There were privateers which were often well educated and sometimes noblemen that were more like mercenarys for a king or queen. English captains sometimes nobleman raided Spanish ships for the crown. It could be that one of these privateers marrys a kings daughter.

To go along with the theme I think a story card would be very nice. Or even have an announcer before the wedding read out the tale to the guests.

I love the idea of the story cards. This sounds like this will be a fun ceremony that fits both of you to a tee. It will be a wedding that people will talk about for years. Congrats and good luck.

I think you should somehow base it on the real story of how your and your fiance met and came to be married. Jot down the facts, then get creative! Change places and circumstances to fit the era and make them more dramatic, but base them on reality (which may not be recognizable when you're done).

when i read that it kinda reminded me about pirates of the carribean because will turner (pirate) met Elizabeth Swann who was practically considered a princess because her family was so high up, they met and fell in love.

"adult adult males think of with their..." is the oldest shaggy dog tale interior the e book. you may would desire to alter it around slightly greater effective than that to overcome the previous couple of centuries of severe repetition ;-) strategies you, i'm merely saying it is overstated, not that it is not genuine.
